INTRODUCTION:

This sermon will consider redemption in your youth.
A. There is great importance in understanding redemption in your youth.
1.
The younger you are when you realize the need for redemption the easier it will be to accept when you are older.
2. At a certain age that is different for everyone, everyone needs redemption which leads to point number two.
B. This age is often referred to as “the age of accountability” but what is the “age of accountability?”

Is this term in the Scriptures?
C. Do you understand redemption young people?
1. Definition of redemption.
2. Young people I understand that some of you have grown up in the Church and the idea of redemption might be hard to understand.
3.
While other of you have grown up in dysfunctional homes and redemption might be easier to understand but you might struggle why God would want to redeem you.
BODY:
1. THERE IS GREAT IMPORTANCE IN UNDERSTANDING REDEMPTION IN YOUR YOUTH.
A. From the time of Adam and Eve man has put a separation between themselves and God.
1.
For Adam and Eve it was a decision to eat of a tree that God said not to eat of that tree.
A. They died that day selling themselves into the slavery of sin.
B. It was from that point forward that Adam and Eve would need to be redeemed form the bondage of sin being separated from God.
Rom 6.
1.
From the time that Adam and Eve sinned in the garden God set His plan of the redemption of man into action.
B. Young people you might be asking why is this important to me.
1.
Because the sooner you can remove this separation from God the better.
A. The more of your life you can spend in service to God the better your life will be.
Lk 2.4
1. Jesus had no sins to be redeemed from but he realized from a young age His responsibility was to serve God.
2. This leads to point number two—At a certain age every young person should realize their need for redemption.
2. This age is often referred to as the “age of accountability” but what is the “age of accountability?”
A. The age of accountability is the age a person reaches in which they realize the difference between good and evil and how it applies to them.

This term is not actually not in the Bible word for word but the concept is and it is very much necessary because of the corruption that is being taught in the world about infant baptism.
A. A Baby has no need of redemption because they are born in a safe condition.
B. Remember it is sin that separates us from God and cause one to need redemption.
1. Babies can not sin therefore they have no need of redemption.
2. Sin is the transgression of the law God.
3. A baby would have no concept of law therefore the baby could have no sin.
2. One must sin in order to need redemption therefore the question is when is one held responsible for sin.
A. Therefore the age of accountability is reached in an individual when the individual understands God’s law and the consequences of breaking God’s law which results in anxiety being that the individual is separated from God and the need is felt to be reunited with God in obeisance.
3. YOUNG PEOPLE DO YOU UNDERSTAND REDEMPTION?
A. REDEMPTION—the purchase back of something that had been lost, by the payment of a ransom.
1. Young people when we understand God’s law and decided to break it anyway we sin.
2. When we sin we earn the wages of death and become slaves of unrighteousness and lose our ability to be with God.
A. In order for us to gain back what was lost someone had to pay the price for our sins or redeem us.
B. Christ payed the price and purchased us back.
1.
The price He paid was the giving of His life on the cross by the shedding of His blood.
2. Without Christ’s blood we could not be purchased back or redeemed.

CONCLUSION:
1. Young people do you understand the need and the great importance of redemption?
A. Redemption is a very deep study and for this reason we are going to continue this discussion in July on “In the Days of Your Youth” podcast so stay tuned.
