These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.
“Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. And when you go into a household, greet it.
If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.
Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

Introduction:
At the beginning of chapter 10 we see Jesus begin to call his disciples. Although the bible does not take much time in chapter 10 to describe these men deeper study and and biblical documentation lets us know what type of people he called.
He had chosen these types of men to entrust with the most preciouse message known to man (Although they did not know it yet).
Even in his selection, Jesus teaches us somethings about ministry and mission that the church would do well to heed today. He did not call the perfect. He did not just call the well connected. He called the fisherman…. He called the tax collector who extorted taxes from the fisherman. He called the Zealot who was a political activist who sought to overturn the government that the tax collector worked for.
I want us to see something here. Christ called the blue collar business owner fisherman, the educated government worker and.. the political activist. He called the rich, and He called the poor, He called the educated and HE called the undeducated an He called the uneducated when he built his team. Indicating two major things:
The gospel is for everyone
Christ called those who could identify with all walks of life. This signifies that the church is not monolithic or based on one demographic. The gospel supercedes every culture and subculture, Every socio-economic barrier. All he requires is that we answer his call. He wasn’t looking for the one’s the world would say were most qualified. Because God is not concerned with whosover can. He is looking for “Whosover will”.
Power Principle: God seeks availability over ability. If you are willing He is able.
2. Where you started has nothing to do with whether or not God can use you.
God wants to use somebody this morning to spread the message of the kingdom. But your past may be prohibiting you. You may have believed the lie that since I’ve been this way I may as well stay this way. But

These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Jesus does not send the message initially outside the bound of Jerusalem. We know that God decided to bring the message of the kingdom to the Jews and they would spread the Gospel further. It was not that God did not want to reach the non-Jew. But God has a time, purpose and plan for all things
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
As we worked for God we must use SPIRIT LED STRATEGY. We must follow the leading and the guiding of the Holy spirit.
Know to whom you are called.
God has a specific assignment for you. It is important to know the area he has planted you. If he has planted you in a local church community, you should seek to minister to that community first. The Samaritans and gentiles would get the gospel. But it wasn’t these disciples initial assignment. Their assignment started with the people closest to them.
Have I prayed about my local assignment?
Have I evangelized my neighbor?
Have I evangelized my barber stylist?
Have I evangelized my family members?
Every believer has an assignment and the mission NEVER ends.
Be led by the spirit. (The disciples did not in act go where the spirit would prohibit
Our Church is strategically placed in this community for a reason.
So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia.
Power Priniciple: We must make sure that our ambition doesn’t get ahead of Gods timing.

Called to a life of trust and operation in the Holy Spirit
Jesus called the disciples to a generous and trusting spirit. He let them know that as they followed the mission of God, he would use the people they served would provide for them.
He also did not want them bogged down. He wanted them light and ready to traverse the terrain and spread the message of the kingdom.
The disciples would have been looking for and earthly kingdom and a political source of power and liberation. Jesus was offering them something much more. Spiritual authority and the message of true freedom and liberation.
“The time of God’s rule and reign over the earth and all creation is at hand!”
Jesus has inaugurated his kingdom in the hearts of men.
He has charged us to give an all powerful message of his soon to be fully recognized kingdom
“Evil has an expiration Date!”
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

Allow the spirit to guide you to the harvest
Have wisdom to spend the resource of time on those who truly wish to receive and appreciate the message and discipleship.
The Jews had a practice of shaking dust from their feet to show they were separate from the ways of non- Jews.
Shaking the dust from ones feet was also a sign to let a person know they are making a non wise choice.
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
And he who wins souls is wise.
