New Testament Prescribed Corporate Worship:

Reading of Scripture -

1 Timothy 4:13 “Until I come, give attention to the public reading of scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.”

Teaching & Preaching of Scripture -

1 Timothy 4:11 “Command and teach these things.”

2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the message, be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction.”

Request/Prayer/Intercessions/Thanks -

1 Timothy 2:1 “First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people,”

Colossians 4:2 “Be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.”

Ephesians 6:18 “With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and petitions for all the saints.”

Singing -

Ephesians 5:19 “speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord,”

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God.”

Baptism -

Matthew 28:19–20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Lord’s Supper (Communion) -

1 Corinthians 11:23–26

23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread,

24 and after he had given thanks he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

25 In the same way, he also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, every time you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

26 For every time you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
