Introduction

Good Evening! This evening we are going to finish up Mark Chapter 6. I hope you all have enjoyed this sermon series as much as I have. There’s just something so simple yet so encouraging about Mark. It’s a great reminder of who Jesus is and what he did while on earth.
Last time we heard from Larry and Jesus feeding the 5000. I was talking with some people after Larry preached and they were pointing out the fact that Jesus feeding the 5000 is taught about all the time in Sunday school but still every time you take time to really study it the Spirit highlights something new. Praise the Lord that this isn’t just a book it is the living Word of the one and only God…
Tonight we are going to look at another one of those sunday school stories, we are going to talk about Jesus walking on the Water. I hope that you all leave here reminded of and impacted by the truths of Scripture. So with that being said let’s open with a word of Prayer.
[Pray]
So as I said we are going to be in Mark 6. Before we read I want to paint the scene. Were we pick up tonight is right after the feeding of the 5000. It was that very same day. So we have to keep in mind that the disciples are still in a point of shock here. They are amazed that a little boys lunch was able to feed thousands. At this point they still don’t really understand who Jesus is and what he’s come to do. But with each maricle he reveals himself more and more.
So if you are open there Stand as we read Mark 6 starting in verse 45.
Mark 6:45–56 ESV
45 Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. 47 And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. 48 And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, 50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” 51 And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, 52 for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. 53 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored to the shore. 54 And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized him 55 and ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.
Thank-you you may be seated.
I have 2 main points for you this evening. The first one is simple “Faith in Jesus” and the second one is “Security in Jesus”. So let’s get started with point number one. (Restate point 1)

Faith In Jesus

Point number 1 has 4 sub points so let’s look at them 1 by 1.
Jesus Guides our Steps v.45
The first think that we see is that when we have faith in Jesus he guides our steps.
Verse 45 says that after feeding the 5000 Jesus tells his disciples to get into a boat and going to the other side of the sea of Galilee to Bethsaida.
Jesus sends disciples away and then begins to dismiss the crowd. The crowd being the 5000 people with full tummy’s thanks to Jesus.
I know that this seems simple but there’s a key theological truth seen here. Jesus guides the disciples is exactly where to go.
