Week 1 — The Mindset Behind Money
Money is a tool to spread the kingdom of God, live generous, and be a blessing.
Thought
Book: Think and Grow Rich
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:
Eat and drink, saith he to thee;
But his heart is not with thee.
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
There is no such thing as mistakes, only growth opportunities.
Your thoughts eventually become beliefs.
One thought does not destroy your life, its patterns of thoughts that have great power.
Thoughts —> Belief
Beliefs dictate your decisions and actions. It is your default lens through which you view life.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Thoughts —> Beliefs —> Attitudes
Attitudes filter what you notice and how you interpret events and people.
Your attitude can cause you to see either opportunities or threats.
Thoughts —> Beliefs —> Attitudes —> Perceptions and Emotions
Studies show that 95% of decisions made on a daily basis stem from emotion.
Thoughts —> Beliefs —> Attitudes —> Perceptions and Emotions —> Decisions and Actions
One decision leads to one action, but repeated decisions lead to habits.
Thoughts —> Beliefs —> Attitudes —> Perceptions and Emotions —> Decisions and Actions —> Habits —> Character
God’s goal is to make you Christ-like, with Christ’s character. This leads to a life of integrity. Character creates reliable people.
Thoughts —> Beliefs —> Attitudes —> Perceptions and Emotions —> Decisions and Actions —> Habits —> Character —> Reputation
Your are the average of your five closest friends.
Reputation leads to better friends, which leads to new connections. This makes a huge difference.
Thoughts —> Beliefs —> Attitudes —> Perceptions and Emotions —> Decisions and Actions —> Habits —> Character —> Reputation —> Outcome
Journal your top ten important thoughts every day for a month. Are they positive or negative?
Changing your beliefs and thoughts are your most powerful leverage points.
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
Part II — Seed
Part II — Seed
“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”
This displays a natural law on Earth with physical seeds, but the same principal exists in the spiritual.
What plants seed in order for your business to grow? Self-sacrifice.
If you are starting an electrical business, call a non-profit and offer your services free of charge to the disadvantaged after hours. Eventually, that seed will land you jobs.
Soil
“But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.
Soil = Heart (mindset)
If your heart is bad or impure, no seed will produce any fruit.
2. Seed
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.
Seed = Word of God
Other seeds is a thought, drive, burning desire, promise, dream, and prophecy.
3. Abide
In order for seed to germinate it needs to abide in the soil.
see John 15.4-7, Prov. 10.22, Gen. 3.17, Deut 8.18
4. Bear Fruit
All good seed planted in good soil properly tended will produce good fruit.
Principle of 20
Principle of 20
Write a question: How do I ____?
Spend 25-30 minutes a day, five days a week, writing 20 things that come to mind.
Most of them will be garbage, but one or two will be gold.
