A New Covenant

Ezekiel 36:24–28 ESV
24 I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. 28 You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

A Resurrected People

The vision of a valley of dry bones.
We aren’t told where the valley is, but we are told who the bones are - the whole house of Israel. verse 11.
A partial fulfillment - Matthew 27:51–53 “51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.”
The fulfillment is when the nation is restored and God’s Spirit is within them.

A Reunified Nation

verses 15-22a

A Reigning Messiah

David my servant - Jesus.
The land is specified.
Application:
God is the God of resurrection! He raised His Son back to life. He is able to raise the dead back to life. He is able to raise a nation back to life.
Christ will reign upon the throne over a reunified Israel.
We are grafted into the promises of God given to Israel, but we do not replace the promises.
