Leadership and Encouragement

Psalm 73:25–26 NIV
25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
DARLENE ZSCHECH
Everyone in town knew her as a sinful woman, but her selfless display of extravagant worship changed how everyone remembers her now. Jesus was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper.
"When [she] learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume
on them".
Luke 7:37–38 NIV
37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
Imagine the depth of this woman's tears being enough to clean the dusty feet of Jesus! Imagine the gratitude that moved her to boldly display her devotion and adoration of the Man reclining at the table. She had heard Him teach of the kingdom of heaven. She had understood the heart of the Lord.
She had seen the miracles He had done. She had been delivered from her old way of life through His loving acceptance of her.
With tears flowing from a sobbing heart, she washed the Lord's tired feet and wiped away the soil with the tresses of her hair. Then she perfumed His feet with oil from her alabaster jar that was valued at a year's wages. Her love for Jesus knew no bounds. When the others voiced their disapproval of her extravagance, Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She has dose a beautiful thing to me."
Oh, for the opportunity to kiss the beautiful feet of Jesus....

Equip all to minister.

Ephesians 4:11–13 NIV
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
What is inside of you, and how do we call it out and see it flourish?
You have a ministry that you use to influence other people.
“Leadership is influence. And everybody has the potential to influence someone, even the shyest person, you know, the person who's not very sanguine, maybe not very outspoken. You still have a gift. (Grow Leader)
You are influencing those that you lead.
I am not doing this because I have a need, it is because you have a need.
We cannot do what we do because we have a need, this cannot be the driving force behind it. This will hurt us.

Developing the Leader within YouChapter 6

We All have two buckets

One with Fuel
One with Water
We choose will we put fuel on the fire or will we put water on it.
The language we use will determine the outcome we get.
People catch our attitude

Developing the Leader within You Chapter 7

Attitude determines your altitude

Three levels of people and their work skills:
The person who work well with other people are a follower
The person who helps people work better is a manager
The person who develops better people to work is a leader
Leaders lead change and make things better.
A manager maintains what is already in place.

We Are All Three: Moses, Aaron and Hur

Don’t disqualify yourself just because you are feeling a bit weary.
Exodus 17:8–16 NIV
8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. 14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.” 15 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. 16 He said, “Because hands were lifted up against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”
2Cor 4 we are pressed on every side
2 Corinthians 4:8–9 NIV
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
It is ok to need help, I need others. We need others.
Take a seat, allow others to help.
We need to be strategic in how we help others.
We need to be humble enough to let others over step up.
Galatians 6:2 NIV
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.”
This allowed Moses to stay until the end.
Ephesians 6:12-18 NIV
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Ephesians 6:16 NIV
“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”
Hold up our shield of faith.
We need to stir up people’s faith.
Our job is not to do the job of others, but to stir up their faith.
Look beyond yourself and care for others.

The Weight of Our Words as Leaders

2 Samuel 23:15–17 NIV
15 David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!” 16 So the three mighty warriors broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the Lord. 17 “Far be it from me, Lord, to do this!” he said. “Is it not the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?” And David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty warriors.
