Lesson

Who here likes to plan things?
Every friend group has the person who plans everything
In college, that was me
I was always the person who put together little get togethers
Whether it was to play a game, go to the pool, or do a Bible study
I was the one who said, hey lets go do this
Now, ironically, I am not actually that good at planning ahead
Rather my strength is in planning spontaneously
At the same point, I do really like to think about where my life will be in the future
At some point in your life, people will ask you what your plan is
In high school, they will ask what your plans are for after high school?
In college, its what are you going to do with your degree?
When your are dating, when are you getting married
Married, when are you going to have kids
Then the cycle repeats when your kids get in high school haha
Whats your plan?
Everyone has plans
Everyone has an idea of how they want their life to look
but unfortunately to many of us exclude or minimize God in that plan
Read James 4:13-17

Don’t Boast in Tomorrow

Verse 16
What does it mean to boast in tomorrow?
Basically, it means to put your plans for the future over God
To be so arrogant, that you think that you think is going to happen, will happen
It is so easy to fall into this trap
because making plans is a good thing
Luke 14:28-30
Jesus uses this analogy to explain the cost of being a follower of Him
Even in following Jesus, there is planning, and weighing the cost
Planning ahead is a wise thing to do
BUT
If your plans supersede God, then that is wrong

Do what is Right

Sinning is more than just doing bad things or doing selfish things
It is also not doing the right thing
Verse 17
If you are not doing something you think is right, for you it is sin
This can apply in so many different ways
But simply, if think you should do something good, do it!
If you think you should hold the door for someone, do it!
If you think you should go on that mission trip, do it!
If you think you should talk to that person about the Gospel
Say it with me, DO IT!
We are called to do good, not to just not do bad
Listen to the Holy Spirit inside of you
