Word of the Year is Zeal:
9 Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up,
And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.
We say it like this:
Zeal is when God’s passions become our own
This Month we’ll be talking about:
Zeal for the Word
John 1:1 “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
This is Referring to Jesus that He was in the beginning with God and
He was God
He’s not just a good prophet or a good man
He is the Son of the Living God
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
God loved the World that He sent His son Jesus to take our place, to die a death we deserved and he rose again
And so we celebrate Easter or resurrection Day
A fun Fact about This Easter Date April 5th:
Scholars have essentially narrowed the timeline for Jesus’ death and resurrection to two dates
Passover Friday
14th-15th of Nisan according to the Jewish calendar
The trial happend during the Reign of Pontius pilate AD 26-36
Only two years during his reign that passover was on a Friday AD 30 and AD 33
According to the Bible Jesus would’ve been crucified at the age of 33
So you essentially have two dates April 3, 33 AD, or April 7th AD 30
And there was a visible in Jerusalem at moonrise April 3, A.D. 33 lunar eclipse
Some scholars connect this to Peter’s quote in Acts 2:20:
“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood…”
Most scholar believe that Jesus was crucified on April 3, 33 AD
Making Today April 5th probably the actual day in History that Jesus Rose from the GRave!
Hallelujah
God gave.
We believe.
We receive.
He gave His life for ours.
We celebrate the resurrection because Jesus paid the Ultimate price so we could be called Sons and Daughters of God
You’re His Kid if you choose to be
Family Heritage
Family Heritage
If you look at your family tree, some of you may come from strong, godly heritage…
But many of us don’t have to look far to find:
Broken relationships
Addiction
Failure
Pain
But hear this:
Your past and family lineage may explain you—but it does not define you.
Through Jesus, you can be called a son or daughter of God.
That is the good news of the gospel.
Some of you maybe have asked the question Why did Jesus have to come?
OR
One of the most common questions Pastors get or maybe Christian Apologist get:
If God is good… why do bad things happen?
Why is there:
War?
Murder?
Abuse?
Loss?
Why did my parent leave?
Why does my life feel like it’s falling apart?
If God is loving… why is there evil?
And if God is so good…
Why did Jesus even have to come and Die in the first place?
God’s Original Plan
God’s Original Plan
When God created everything it was perfect—and He called it good.
Man had communion with God.
Adam walked with Him.
We were made for:
Relationship
Purpose
Dominion
God said:
“I will provide everything you need… just walk with Me.”
But God didn’t make robots.
He gave us choice
HE GAVE MAN FREE WILL
The Fall
The Fall
And with that freedom…
Man chose sin.
Romans 5:17 says:
By one man’s offense, death reigned.
Sin entered.
Death entered.
Satan convinced Adam that even though he had a relationship with God, it still wasn’t enough
The same thought that kicked Satan out of Hell
And when Adam sinned, he handed over authority to the enemy
On that Day the earth was Broken
Satan became the god of this World
“The god of this age has blinded the minds…” — 2 Corinthians 4:4
The Property
The Property
Let me explain it like this:
Imagine the earth like a piece of property.
God is the rightful owner.
He gives it to man and says:
“Take care of it. Build something with it. Walk with Me in it.”
But man makes a bad deal…
And loses it.
The Repossession
The Repossession
It’s like a repo situation.
You ever seen someone’s car get taken because they couldn’t pay the debt?
They thought it was theirs…
They drove it…
They depended on it…
But the moment the debt wasn’t paid—
It was taken.
That’s what happened in Eden.
Adam gave up something he couldn’t afford to lose…
And humanity has been living in the fallout ever since.
Why Evil Exists
Why Evil Exists
1 John 5:19 says:
“The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
So why do bad things happen?
Because mankind handed over what God had entrusted.
That’s why there is:
Brokenness
Sickness
Violence
Confusion
The system became broken.
The Broken House
The Broken House
God built a house for relationship.
But sin turned it into a wreck.
Windows shattered.
Walls broken.
Darkness everywhere.
And people ask:
“Why would God build a house like this?”
He didn’t.
This is what happens when what God built is mismanaged.
Man became Bankrupt
Man became Bankrupt
Romans 6:23 says:
“The wages of sin is death.”
We owed a debt we couldn’t pay.
Not a small debt…
A life debt.

The Kinsman Redeemer
The Kinsman Redeemer
In Scripture, there’s a concept called the
Kinsman-Redeemer (Goel)
If someone lost everything…
A relative could step in and buy it back.
But they had to:
Be family
Be willing
Be able to pay
The Family Land
The Family Land
Picture a family farm passed down for generations.
It meant identity. Legacy. Purpose.
But one generation loses it to debt.
Now someone else owns it—and destroys what it was meant to be.
Leviticus 25:25 “25 ‘If one of your brethren becomes poor, and has sold some of his possession, and if his redeeming relative comes to redeem it, then he may redeem what his brother sold.”
Then one day…
A relative shows up and says:
“I’ll pay whatever it costs to get it back.”
Ephesians 1:7 “7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”
Jesus Our Redeemer
Jesus Our Redeemer
Jesus is the last Adam.
He came:
In human flesh
Without sin
Carrying our debt
Bearing the name of GOD- John 8:58 “58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.””
The same name God gave Moses in Exodus 3
Ephesians 1:7
“In Him we have redemption through His blood…”
What Jesus Did
What Jesus Did
He didn’t just die.
He:
BOUGHT BACK OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
HE BOUGHT BACK THE DOMINION THAT GOD GAVE MAN
Broke sin’s power
Reclaimed what was stolen
Luke 4 says:
He came to set captives free.
WE WERE ONCE SLAVES TO SIN
SLAVES TO OUR OLD NATURE
17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,
Your debt? Canceled.
Your shame? Removed.
Your past? Forgiven.
Restoration
Restoration
Isaiah 61:7:
Instead of shame—double honor.
This is not just forgiveness.
This is restoration.
Jesus Died Rose and is Returning for HIS people
Alter Call:
Will you bow your Heads with me this morning?
Some of you walked in here today carrying things nobody else knows about.
You look fine on the outside…
But inside there’s:
weight
pressure
guilt
shame
Some of you are tired…
Tired of fighting the same battles.
Tired of the same patterns.
Tired of feeling stuck.
And maybe you’ve asked the question:
“God, where are You?”
“Why is my life like this?”
“Why do I feel so far away?”
Can I tell you something?
God is not distant from you right now.
He is closer than you think.
And He’s not waiting to judge you…
He’s waiting to restore you.
You don’t have to clean yourself up first.
You don’t have to fix everything first.
You don’t have to figure it all out.
That’s why Jesus came.
Some of you feel like you’ve gone too far…
Like if people really knew your story—
they wouldn’t even want you here.
But hear me clearly:
You are exactly who Jesus came for.
The cross was not for perfect people.
It was for:
the broken
the addicted
the ashamed
the lost
Right now…
The door is open.
Freedom is available.
Forgiveness is available.
A new life is available.
But you have to make a decision.
Not tomorrow.
Not next week.
Right now.
So I’m going to ask you this…
If you know you need to get right with God…
If you know you need forgiveness…
If you’re tired of carrying what you’ve been carrying…
I’m going to ask you to be bold.
Moment of Decision
Moment of Decision
On the count of three…
I want you to raise your hand.
This is not about me.
This is not about a church.
This is about your life.
This is about your eternity.
One…
You’re not here by accident.
Two…
God has been pursuing you.
Three…
Lift your hand right now.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Sinners Prayer:
Father God, I give you my life
I give you my heart, I give you my all
I repent today for my past
I thank you my sins are forgiven
I believe in Jesus and that he died on the cross and rose again
I make you the Lord and Savior of my life
I love you God
In Jesus name amen
