Had fun
What did we talk about about last week
Can anyone give me the verses?
Yes, the Roman road finished
But we are in between, and I want to talk about sharing the gospel a little more

Do you have any irrational fears?

You don’t have to answer
I do, I'm terrified by raccoons!
literal so sacred
Say how I will run away if I see one
Literally the worst
You know what's also i scary,
sharing the gospel
I get it, it's scary
What if I say something wrong
What if I miss a verse in the Romans Road
These are fears that I have.
But I want to talk to you guys about, what I think is the secret sauce,
welcoming people into a relationship,
welcoming them into a community.
both taking away the fear of sharing
also giving them a group to encourage them in
So let's turn to Luke 10:25-37
Luke 10:25–37 ESV
And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

Main point: love God, love others

So the idea in this text, i want to get to you is that when we follow the love to Love God and love others, it will become easier to share the gospel. lets get going

Love God 25-28

alright, set set the seen, we have lawer in veerse 25 coming up to Jesus,
A lawer in this bassicaly an expert in Jewish law, or the OT
And this guy would have been buddy buddyies with the pharies and saducess, the legalist, rember works bassed rightness,
Booooo
Any way he is comes to jesus with a question, which is not a bad thing to do with thr gith heart,
guys i have questions for Jesus all the time
But this guy is asking to test him.
so bassically he’s rage baiting Jesus
And he ask how can he have eternall life, alluding to Daniel 12:2 which could one of you read for me
Daniel 12:2 ESV
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Remember he is an expert in the law so he is using a little bit of neesh text to trick Jesus.
and i lovew what jesus does in verse 26, bassicaly what does the Bible say, how do you read it
Now this lawer knew his stuff, he gives the right answer specfficaly qouting deuteronomy 6:5
Deuteronomy 6:5 ESV
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
some one else read this,
Pereftc answer like saying responding to a question in sunday school allways being “Jesus”
but adds one more thing you should love your neigbhor as you self, reffrences
Leviticus 19:18 “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.”
Now Jesus Repondes to him, in verse 28 also reffrences sripture showing his own expertice on the word of God, specffically
Leviticus 18:5 “You shall therefore keep my statutes and my rules; if a person does them, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.”
So this idea of loving GOd and loving others is also seen in mathew 22
And the lawer know the right anwer
Adn guys i think we can be these type of people who know the right answer,
YOu guys have heard the gospel, you know what a right relstionship with God is
YOu are guily of sin, Christ paid that debt on the cross, if you beilve in him as Your lord and savior you will life.
But how do we share it
well its about loving others

Love others 29-37

When we love others, it is the most efficve way to share the gospel
but its kinda irronic looking at verse 29,
as up to this point the lawer ask this question, and the lawer andswers and Jesus is beassically says thats right
And i think what was going through the lawer mind is
“is that it?’ where the controversiy i was trying to clipp you and get you canceled!
But a thought comes into his head, who my neighbor
i read out of the esv, but i like the word the use the NASB uses, “wishing” to justifiy himself
He knowes that Jesus knows he does not follow this commadnment.
So jesus goes on head and tells a parable, the one of the good sameritain,
Luke 10:30–32 ESV
Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
Ok so this is about an 19 mile jounrye betwen, and is a prime place to steel stuff and rob peole, thuse in verse 30 this man is robbed and beaten, and left dead,
But hey here is the goodnews the Jericho is a city of preiest and levites, so the would be taveling on this road alot
and what do you know a priest comes, bassically hes a pstor on staff the whole thing, he will help
nope he passes on the other side
well im not going to that church
hey look a levite, hes bought in at church he serves, a leader, even preached a time or two, but once agin he passes on the other side. does blin an eye.
Luke 10:33–35 ESV
But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’
But look there’s someone,
nooo its a smaritian
hes the guy who read the message translations,
so surface level.
the Jewish people wanted nothing to do with the Samaritans
but what the samartian does next is amazing,
The text says in 33 he has compassion, in verse 34 be takes care of his wounds his pain, buts him on his donkey or hosre, and walks him into a place of e of care, where other are.
he pays two days wages, in 35, saying what ever else he needed charge on me
He did not just help the guy, he brought him into community he did the hard work,
Luke 10:36–37 ESV
Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Jesus then reurns to our lawer freind as asks the lawer
who is the one who loved his neighbor and followed the seconed commament
the smaratian, the christianity light guy,
and what does Jesus say, You go, and do likewise
Guys we need to know the text, know the romans road, have the gospel in are heads its a command a fullfillmetn of loving GOd with our minds
But we must love our neigbhor with are heart,
1 corthinas 13, says that we can do all the right thing but witthout love we are nothing.
notice the smatrian does just say the right thing, be brings him into s afe place.
And thats how we should share the gospel,
bringing people into community.
you don’t allways need to land the romans road perfect,
guys somethings its just inving people to youth group

what this looks like

So how many of you want to share the gospel, but its scary
yeah im right there with you
well, the best way tot do it is through community
let me tell you a story,
So i do campus ministry at GCU
and its a christian school, but not all people are christian
apart of my role, is i have to cold knok, on doors, and invite people to group
ive dont this dor years now, and honeslty i dont thing any one has ever, been constaint in coming to group
but, this is actually works its all about realtionship
when i have freind, who i invite to the bible study i run, because i genually want them to be there.
and keep it chill but confident
they come, and ive seen God work in many ways in that
So for you guys le’s make this space here at youth group that is where you want to invite others
id assume you know people you think could benift what you have from coming to group
I know its scary to try to say the right things,
but who would agree it does not sound so bad to invite people here
Yeah, i agree
and you guys know i give you guys alot of times to hear the gospel, and im not going to stop,.
I want you guys to be able to share the gospel on your own, thats why we went throught the romans road.
But i want it to be easy as possiable for you to share the gospel, even if that just means inviting someone to group
but lets hit some final concerns we have

What we have a hard time with

so we alll agree that the best way to sharee the gospel is to invite someone into community, not so bad right

So you guys want to know how we can absolutly fail at this

Its when we don’t love one another at youth group,
no one will want to come here if we are not welcoming
Guys if we want to fail, we should devlope into a click
first thats justsinfull
But i don’t want to fail sharing the gospel
alot of youth groups become clicks
not here not on my watch
we have an opprtunity as a young group, to form a welcoming invitng culture
That we all know each other, and when a new person comes, we welcome them
NOt overwhealimg them but are kind
want to show to the wolrd the gospel?
This is what Jesus says
John 13:35 ESV
By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
So lets be those people who do not have clicks and are welcmong
Lets make this place to where you want to invite your freind
IF you have major concerns on any thing on that, come talk to me personally,
I want it to be easy for you, let me know and ill work and making this a easy place for you to invite and share the gospel to those you know.

Take aways

Share the gospel this week by inviting them into community
If you don’t know who pray for God to lead you
Finally love one another

Love one another

So we talked about tonight that sharing our faith can be scary, but a way that is less scary and acutally healthyer is invitng others into community
so we are going to do somthing diffrent tonight, we are going to just have a time of fellowship instead of small group
We are going to do a group atvity, of group bingo, hand out paper
after we finish i want you to go talk to a person intentionally about something that interest you, in the bingo, who you don’t know well
i know its wild, but if we want to share the gospel well, it starts here by loving one another
lets pray.
