Baptism is important because of what Jesus has done.
It’s not a small act, it’s very big.
Contrast to wedding and they put the rings on each other. It’s a very big moment.
What is Baptism?
Baptism is a public declaration of a person’s desire to live for Christ and it pictures the Gospel message of being crucified with Christ and raised with Him in new life. It’s a symbol acted out in obedience to Christ that symbolizes iternal salvation. Our Lord gave the church this ordinance of baptism prior to His accesion when He commanded.
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Baptism is an indetification with Jesus Christ, and His message, and His people. Baptism is a symbol acted out in an open and public manner, that shows what has happened in the spirtual life of the Christian.
Baptism is an act of obedience to Christ by those who have placed their faith in Him for salvation and have entrusted their lives to Him as Lord. If you are a Christi, you should be baptized, as a believer in obedience to you Lord and Saviour Romans 6:3–4 “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Why be baptizesd? The easy answer here is that Jesus commanded it. He told us, make disciples and then apart of that process is the baptism. 2. Who should be baptised?
