Sometimes we see cross as horrible product of man / These prophesies prove that wrong / Actually product of God from start

When seen in this light = changes everything we think we know about the cross /

Read by - Tyler Green - Isaiah 52:13–53:12 “Behold, my servant shall act wisely; he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted. As many were astonished at you— his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the children of mankind— so shall he sprinkle many nations. Kings shall shut their mouths because of him, for that which has not been told them they see, and that which they have not heard they understand. Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Again written 1000 years before it happened / When thinking = We realize just how voluntary his sacrifice was & is / What he went through = went through for each 1 of us / Truly bore every sin & sorrow that was a byproduct = Reconciling us to our God / Who we forsook back in the garden

Communion -

Before his death / Shared meal with family symbolizing his sacrifice to come / We now share in same meal as family to remember sacrifice he made for us / That sacrifice made us HIS FAMILY!!

Order of communion - This is for believers only / If you have unconfessed sin or have something against your Brother go and make it right now before partaking / We will line up to receive the bread and cup and go back to our seats and if you see someone sitting alone please ask them to partake with you and once everyone is seated we will partake as one body as a Family.

Prayer for communion -

Bread - For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.

Cup - In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Now looking at 3 scriptures that show the actual crucifixion & ultimate death of our Savior / There are many more & I encourage you to go home & read them tonight / Carry thought going into these = Jesus could have stopped at any moment / But he didn’t so he could save you & me -

And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.” Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left. And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.””

Matthew 27:45–56 (ESV) “Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!” There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him, among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.”

So we see our promised savior hung on a tree for us / During his death we see the very evil on display that he needed to pay for / Also see his heart of redemption for us in thief next to him / Also we see his complete trust & submission to Father during most painful moment of taking wrath for us

While somber / Picture of cross should = bring hope, joy, and praise / For only 3 days later everything would change / But without this moment of what seemed defeat = No Victory over sin & death

May be wondering what the Nails you picked up on way in are for /These nails symbolize the sin Jesus decided to pay for on the cross. / Take your Nail and confess any sin you may be holding onto - that Jesus already paid for. / After the last song on your way out drop the Nails in the buckets at each door & imagine letting go of that sin that has been holding you back. There is no need to hold back anymore because - JESUS PAID IT ALL!!!!
