Why The Cross?

Isaiah 53: 1-6

1. The Cross Was Necessary Because Of Sin (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6)

A. We have all sinned

B. We all stand guilty before God

2. The Cross Was Necessary Because Payment Was Required (Romans 6:23, Hebrews 9:22)

A. The wages of sin is death

B. Sin must be paid for

3. The Cross Was Necessary Because Only Jesus Could Pay The Price (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 1: 18-19, Isaiah 53:5)

A. Jesus = sinless, spotless, perfect Lamb of God

B. Jesus was our substitute

Don’t die in your sins

Don’t try to pay what you never could

Trust the One who already paid it - “It is finished” (John 19:30)
