12 On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel.”
14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, 15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”
16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things to Him.
17 So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about Him.
18 For this reason also the people went and met Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are not doing any good; look, the world has gone after Him.”

A Victor King’s Entry
Hosanna Lt means “Give Salvation Now”
There had been word that Jesus was indeed the Messiah
But they wanted a war hero, one who would smash Rome and take over with a kingdom.
How many times have we laid out the Royal Welcome for Jesus with some kind of gain in mind?
A mental image or expectation for Him and then curse Him when it didn’t go how WE wanted it.
He had crowds saying this when it was good and safe, where were they a week later?
We Don’t mind to praise Him on the good days
14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, 15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”
The synoptic Gospels give us more detail on Jesus selection and intentional fulfillment of Zechariah
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
As I’ve said before, the fact that he rode a un-broke green donkey colt peacefully is a miracle itself. (Share why)
The people where expecting in the words of Doney from Shrek “a valiant steed”.
They wanted a war horse with a warrior king on it.
Little did they know that it is in Jesus second coming that such a warrior will be.
16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things to Him.
Even His disciples didn’t get it until long after the fact.
(ever had anyone tell you something, be it look out for/don’t do that and it is until after the fact and sitting back to reflect on life that you get it?)
17 So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about Him. 18 For this reason also the people went and met Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
The people declared what they had seen!
What keeps you from telling the world what Jesus has done?
How has He
Changed your family?
Broken Chains?
Healed the Broken?
Provided when there was no way?
Restored a marriage?
John 12:19 (NASB95)
19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are not doing any good; look, the world has gone after Him.”
This is a fav of mine:
I’m like a little kid with his toys and they are all my favorit… The Bible is like that to me…
I love that they just threw their hands up and was like “nothing we do is working”
MAY THE DAVIL SAY THAT ABOUT US!
Take Home?
DO WE MAKE WAY FOR HIM TO BE KING ON BOTH THE GOOD AND BAD DAYS?
He is king no matter what, but until we make Him king of our lives, we have nothing, even a billionaire is poor without Jesus as King.
