TITLE: Palm Sunday - Don't Stop At The Celebration — A Soul Reset Journey
Anchor Text: Matthew 11:28–29
“Let me ask you something…”
When you hear Palm Sunday… what do you see?
(Pause. Look around. Let a few answer.)
You probably see:
palm branches
people shouting
a celebration in the streets
But I need you to hear this today…
Palm Sunday is not the destination. It’s the beginning of a journey.
And if you stop at the celebration… you will miss the transformation.
(Short pause)
Our theme this year is Soul Reset: Spiritual Reboot.
And here’s the truth:
You can’t reset your soul… if you stop at the street.
👉 Repeat after me: “Don’t stop at the street.”
EXCITEMENT
Let’s go to the scene.
John chapter 12.
The Bible says the people took palm branches and went out to meet Him shouting— “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Now picture it…
It’s loud. It’s emotional. It’s exciting.
(Lean in)
But here’s the problem…
They were celebrating the right person… for the wrong reason.
They wanted a king—
to fix their situation
to overthrow their problems
to give them quick relief
But Jesus Christ didn’t come to take over Rome…
He came to take over hearts.
(Pause)
👉 Repeat after me: “Excitement is not transformation.”
Say it again: “Excitement is not transformation.”
You can shout… and still be stuck. You can worship… and still be wounded. You can show up… and still not surrender.
Everybody wants renewal, reset etc. But they stay in the state of excitement.
Excitement Costs Nothing
Excitement FEELS like Progress
All you are doing is chasing the next high. And for some, temporary is all they need. Some have learned to live and accept TEMPORARY. The culture trains us to live off HIGHS.
We’ve been conditioned for:
quick inspiration
short attention
constant stimulation
So we treat church like a moment… not a lifestyle.
Excitement keeps Change at a distance.

Some people love what Jesus can do…

…but haven’t surrendered to who He is.

CONFUSION

We tend to see confusion when we face our condition.
The condition they saw was different from the condition Jesus wanted to change.
Jews were praising with Politics in mind
With freedom of roman rule in mind
With caesar in mind.
As you can see it was never with SELF in mind.
It forces you to face:
wounds
habits
pride
unforgiveness
And a lot of people… don’t want to go there.
So they stay where it feels good.
👉 Truth: You can’t heal what you refuse to face.
You prayed… but nothing changed. You believed… but it still hurt. You trusted… but it didn’t work out like you thought.
So many walked away from Christ because they thought they got the wrong diagnosis.
They walk away:
disappointed
frustrated
distant
But if you stop in the confusion…
you’ll never make it to the transformation.
👉 Say this: “I won’t stop in the shift.”

TRANSFORMATION

Now… let’s go to the cross.
No more shouting. No more palms. No more crowd energy.
Just a hill… and a Savior.
(Pause… slow your voice)
On the street… people talked about Jesus.
At the cross… Jesus reveals the heart of God.
And this is where the soul reset happens.

Walk through slowly:

“Father, forgive them…”
👉 Reset: Restore (Forgiveness) You can’t reset your soul holding onto what hurt you.
👉 Say: “I release it.”
“Today you will be with me in paradise…”
👉 Reset: Renew (Hope) It’s not too late for you.
👉 Say: “God’s not done with me.”
“Behold your son…”
👉 Reset: Rebuild (Relationships) God cares about how we treat each other.
“My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
👉 Reset: Be Real You don’t have to fake it with God.
👉 Say: “I can be honest with God.”
“I thirst…”
👉 Reset: Dependence Stop trying to do life in your own strength.
👉 Say: “I need Him.”
“It is finished.”
👉 Reset: Purpose The work is already done.
👉 Say: “It’s already handled.”
“Into Your hands I commit my spirit…”
👉 Reset: Rest (Surrender) This is Matthew 11:28–29 in action.
👉 Say: “I surrender.”
(Pause… let the room breathe)

REFLECTION

Now let me ask you…
Where are you in the journey?
(Pause)
Are you still on the street? — excited, but unchanged?
Are you stuck in the shift? — confused, frustrated?
Or have you made it to the cross? — surrendered… and being transformed?
(Pause… scan the room)

CLOSING

Let me leave you with this:
Palm Sunday is easy.
Crowds are easy.
Noise is easy.
But a soul reset?
That takes surrender.
👉 Final repeat: “I won’t stop at the street.” “I won’t stop in the shift.” “I’m going to the cross.”
(Short pause)
Don’t just wave palms this season…
Walk the road. Stand at the cross.
And let God do what excitement never could—
Reset your soul.
