Don’t Miss It
Good morning everyone. He is risen! I am so thankful you are here this morning or watching online. Please like, subscribe, share, and comment where you are watching us from if you are online this morning.
The rest of you , I already know.
This is the day that changes everything.
We have walked through the cross and seen Him die, but was it enough?
When he said it is finished, is it really?
A love that would sacrifice more than any other is a love that not even death could keep down.
Jesus resurrection is the ground and basis of all true love, hope, and joy; for if Jesus is still in the grave then all of humanity will remain in the grave too. But he is not in the grave, and this makes all the difference. (G. K. Chesterton)

Today we celebrate that the cross was not the end, but the beginning of the new.
Please open your Bibles, apps, or ask Chat GPT to turn to Luke 24.

Have you ever heard of this?
How about FOMO? The fear of missing out.
SOMO is - Sadly one missing the obvious.
It is like telling a simple joke and the person not getting it.
Knock Knock - interrupting cow
It‘s worse when you have to explain it.
Unfortunately we miss a lot. Maybe it is the busyness or crazy schedules. Maybe we are distracted or overwhelmed.
Whatever the cause, we miss the thing right in front of us.
That’s what I want us to dive into today.
Today is not just another day. A thing we checkmark. This is a day that changed the course of history and had more affect on every aspect of life we can think of.
I don’t want any of us to miss it.
Please stand with me as we read the most powerful and important words you will hear this morning.
13 That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.
15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.
17 And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18 Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,
20 and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.
22 Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.”
25 And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
28 So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, 29 but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them.
30 When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight.
32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”
33 And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34 saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” 35 Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.
Let’s pray

Don’t Miss It
So many people go through life with the “prove it” attitude.
We have our expectations, our point of views and get locked into them.
It gives us blinders, even if other things are telling us the opposite.
Jesus’ followers had seem Him killed. Hopes were dashed and there were so many questions.
13 That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.
Don’t let disappointment make you walk away.
Doubts are natural.
We have a picture of what life should be and it rarely lives up to that.
But even in our doubts, Jesu shows up if we are paying attention.
15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.
Don’t let disappointment make you walk away.
Jesus not only shows up, but as he did so often He asks the most obvious question
17 And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad.
Don’t let disappointment make you walk away.
You cannot tell me that Jesus did not have smirk on His face.
I can’t prove it but this the same one who looked at the paraplegic and asked do you want to get better, or the blind man what do you want me to do.
Sometime we need to be asked to obvious for us to begin to see the obvious.
Your expectations and experiences don’t define the truth.
18 Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20 and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.
Your expectations and experiences don’t define the truth.
They were astonished. Where had this guy been.
Everyone is talking about it.
Do you hear their disappointment?
This was not the plan.
21 But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.
Your expectations and experiences don’t define the truth.
They wanted and saw Jesus as the conquering Redeemer.
They forgot the suffering servant.
Their view was small.
You don’t have to see it to see it.
You don’t have to see it to see it.
A tomb that was sealed and guarded was empty.
Testimony say He was alive.
Jesus told them he would rise again.
7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”
You don’t have to see it to see it.
They still couldn’t see it.
Most today say they don’t see it.
Over 500 people witnessed Jesus risen and many if not most lost their lives because they refused to deny He had risen.
Nothing has and continues to impact the world more than Jesus.
How does a dead man do that.
Christianity has profoundly shaped Western and global culture by establishing foundational moral frameworks, advocating for universal human rights, and fostering education and charity. It has deeply influenced art, literature, and laws, promoting values like compassion and human dignity, while also influencing modern healthcare and the abolition of slavery.
See the whole picture, it has all led to Jesus.
See the whole picture, it has all led to Jesus.
Everything in the Bible before the cross is pointing to Jesus’ birth, life, and sacrifice.
Everything after is the result of HIs resurrection.
12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.
See the whole picture, it has all led to Jesus.
The resurrection is the hope and proof that what Jesus did on the cross was enough.
Sin paid for, death defeated.
Imagine that Bible study.
When we remove us, we see Jesus.
I love that Jesus will never force belief on us
28 So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, 29 but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them.
When we remove us, we see Jesus.
Jesus waited for the invitation
Then at the perfect time they saw
30 When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. 32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” 33 And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,
When we remove us, we see Jesus.
The truth burns when we hear it.
THis is not about knowledge of Jesus
Bible knowledge can lead to a big head, receiving bible truth and walking with the Lord lead to a burning heart.
It warms and thaws the heart and opens our eyes.
It stirs in our soul.
We can ignore it and be sorry, or give in to it and be free
Don’t Miss It
Don’t Miss It
What do we do with this. Once we know the truth that Jesus died for our sins, and rose again, we can’t just keep that to ourselves.
We can’t ignore it.

The grave could no0t hold Jesus.
This news cannot be silenced or ignored.
Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. (Clarence W. Hall)

So what will you do with it
He is risen!
Let’s pray.
