Things to consider today, if you are new
Our Vision as a church
Luke 24:1–6 ESV
1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,

“Resurrection People”

Luke 24:5 ESV
5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?
Today is resurrection sunday - its a day celebrating the new. What God has done.
The same time of year, as the weather turns, as the new life shows up in the natural realm around us it is a reminder every year - that God has done it!
“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.”Martin Luther
“The resurrection is the central theme in every Christian sermon.Billy Graham
so why is it such a big deal?…… because simply everything we believe and we know…. flows from the empty tomb. Everything we believe in hinges and hangs two important realities: on the price that was paid on a cross, and a tomb that was vacated three days later.
“a man walked out of an empty tomb andd so that means everything is different for me”
Gods finishing point
is our starting point, our reality
LET US NOT DRAW EASTER DOWN TO A CULTURAL EVENT…. BUT RATHER RISE UP TO WHERE IT RIGHTFULLY IS… INCREDIBLE IN EVERY WAY!
We are not just easter people, we are resurrection people: we are people that all walk via the cross, and to the empty tomb and finally out into the wide open spaces of God himself.
All because of a risen saviour!
If you are wondering what God has for you - thats what hhe has for uyou - he has resurrection in mind for you!
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
we are easter people….resurrection people.
there is life in us.
and that life burst fourth in a moment on that first easter sunday.

ALL THE TOMB ENCOUNTERS: from mourning to joy - in a single moment

from sorrow to overwhelming joy
from sadness to a smile - all in a moment
thats what can happen with your life and my life in the hands of Jesus.
He, in a single moment
can take our brokenness our sadness our helplessness
and turn it into the most pure joy.
all because of an encounter with him
*** at the end of the service today we will give people the opportunity to respond to the message of easter, to accept this resurrection life by simply praying a prayer of asking… Jesus****
whats the pattern? whats the biblical pattern we see of these resurrection encounters!
they have a personal encounter, find out all thats been made possible!
they recieve the good news into their own lives, hearts, soul
they overwhelmingly rejoice
they turn and go
They go and tell someone
were not just easter people, were ressurection people. living among the dead!
we now are the living among the dead
people that are alive spiritually
and will be ressurected eternally!
come on somebody
Encountering the Risen Christ (personal)
Being Changed from the inside out (joy)
Transformed into a carrier of good news (Gospel)
An empty tomb means a glorious, full life.
What marks us as resurrection person? more than happiness, a few things to reflect upon here

1.ENCOUNTER:FROM DEATH TO LIFE

in a moment of enccounter: they go from death to life.
encountering the risen christ means a life thats brought from death to life
Connection to a risen christ means a person moves from death to life. Not eventually but NOW.
Luke 24:5 ESV
5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?
Seek the living, Christ is living
are you alive today?
you are living naturally…. but are you alive spiritually
resurrection people are marked by this one thing: once they were dead, but now they are alive
alive
free
new
It means the old man/woman is no longer
the blood has delivered us from the eventual full penalty of death
and the tomb means that in Him we are new in Christ
a life once lived is over.
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Isaiah 48:6 ESV
6 “You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I announce to you new things, hidden things that you have not known.
Revelation 21:5 ESV
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
resurrection people are alive people….
Romans 6:11 ESV
11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
resurrection people no longer live to sin, but are alive to christ

2.DIRECTION: CHANGED BUT STILL CHANGING

Your life is changed in a moment
and continues to change until eternity,
Justified, Sanctified… Glorified.
Justified now… Glorified with him eternally when they day comes…
But in the meantime: God is bringing HIS WILL to order in my life through the sanctification thats made possible because of resurrection life, a risen saviour i walk with!
Change is possible through resurrection life. It is. thats the hope we claim, that in Christ i am a changed person…. but i will continue to change!
A NEW DIRECTION: MOVING TOWARDS HIM… and AWAY FROM SIN
“The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances.”
the resurrection life that JESUS wants us to have in him is not a
do-over
not even a reset or a restart
its a brand new beginning
something thats never been before - like a brand new life thats brought into the world or a flower blossoming for the very first time. This isnt the old. its the new
but its brand new.
never before.
so we start brand new
were changed from the inside out - the bible says - but then we continue to change, to grow, to mature into the fullness of He who has called us out of darkness and into glorious LIGHT.
Brand new
And a new life that just gets better
***for those that maybe are struggling with what to do with sin. Once saved, our relationship with SIN now is completely different.
We are no longer slaves to it, but it doesnt mean we dont have to deal with it (ssinful, fallen nature, bodies, flesh etc)
Sin now to us is ours to overcome with our brand new resurrection faith
and as we mature, our we become even more sensitive to sin being able to recognize it, be devastated and want nothing to do with it***
resurrection life in you now mans the very LIFE of God is in you.
everyday, is resurrection day!

3.HOPE: EMPOWERED BY AN NEW & ETERNAL HOPE

a life thats now empowered by and eternal hope
hope that powers us forward
Hope is the engine that moves the boat
what is hope? the confident expectation thats grounded in the character and nature of God. and from that place we can trust his promises.
promises of a future and a hope.
1 Peter 1:3 ESV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Let us pray.
