John 20:30-31
John 20:30-31
And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
Jesus was not an afterthought. Jesus was not a backup plan. Jesus was the only plan from before the beginning. Revelation tells us that Jesus was the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world.
Jesus was the promise made, the promise kept, and He is the promise keeper.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Darkness could never overcome the light of Jesus. The darker it gets in this world, the brighter the light of Jesus shines.
1. The Seed Promised
1. The Seed Promised
Genesis 12:3
“In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
This promise was given before Abraham ever had any children. He was 75 years old when God told him he would have a son. Abraham and Sarah had to wait 25 years to see the promise come to pass.
Abraham and Sarah had a son names Isaac. When he grew to a young man, God told Abraham to take his son up to the mountain and sacrifice him to God.
Isaac carried the wood that he would be sacrificed on up the hill of Mount Moriah. About 2,000 years later, Jesus would carry the cross up the hill toward Calvary.
Genesis 22:8 “And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.”
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
After God stopped Abraham and showed him a ram in the thicket to sacrifice, God made an eternal promise, the promise of a seed that would bless all the earth.
He told Abraham, because you did not withhold your son, your only son..........John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Genesis 22:18
“In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed…”
👉 God wasn’t just talking about Isaac—He was pointing to one Seed.
Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.
🔥 Revelation: The promise always was always about Jesus. He has always been the way, He is the Way, and He always will be the Way. No one can come to the Father but through Jesus!!!
2. The Savior Prophesied

God begins to define the Seed more clearly.

“The scepter shall not depart from Judah…”

➤ From Judah → David
2 Samuel 7:12-13
“I will set up your seed after you… and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.”
The promise was not only a seed, but an everlasting King!!!!!

➤ The Mission of the Messiah
➤ The Mission of the Messiah
[For many the Servant of God became an object of horror; many were astonished at Him.] His face and His whole appearance were marred more than any man’s, and His form beyond that of the sons of men—but just as many were astonished at Him,
Isaiah is prophesying that the savior would be beaten so badly, he would be unrecognizable even as a man. He would be beaten and suffer worse than any human in history.
Isaiah 53:5
“He was wounded for our transgressions… and by His stripes we are healed.”
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
🔥 Revelation: The promise is no longer just a blessing—it’s a suffering Savior.
3. The Promise Manifested
3. The Promise Manifested
The New Testament - 4 Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, John
Matthew’s genealogy takes us all the way back to Abraham. Luke’s goes all the way back to Adam. John goes all the way back to eternity past.
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:
Jesus’s earthly genealogy goes directly to both Abraham as the promise and to David as the King!!!
John 1:29 John declares Jesus as the lam who takes away the sin of the world.
🔥 He is the Seed AND the Sacrifice.
4. The Promise Fulfilled
4. The Promise Fulfilled
Jesus was taken before Pontius Pilate for trial.
Pilate declared, “I find no fault in this man.” He took him before the people alongside a murderer named Barabbas. Pilate was to release one prisoner and he thought, surely they will release Jesus instead of a murderer. But the people chose to free Barabbas.
The world around us today would make the same choice. The same choice is made every day.
Jaden Ivey lost his job this week because he spoke out against his team celebrating the unrighteousness of the LGBTQ pride. Yet, there are players arrested for drugs, guns, assault, and everything else who still have a job.
Pilate, still not wanting to kill Jesus, takes him and has him scourged. The beating he took fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah.
CAT OF NINE TAILS
CROWN OF THORNS
He hoped this would be enough to appease the mob.
“Crucify him”
Jesus carried the cross up the hill toward Calvary. He was so beaten and weak that he was falling under the weight of the 150 lb. cross. The soldiers called out to a man named Simon of Cirene who would carry the cross.
Simon was a man of color. NO ROOM FOR RACISM IN THE CHURCH!!!!!!
The soldiers would pluck out his beard hairs. He hung on a cross for 6 excruciating hours!!
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Galatians 3:13-14
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law… that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus.”
🔥 The Cross releases:
The blessing of Abraham
The promise to all nations
The gift of salvation
5. Victory Won
5. Victory Won
On the third and appointed day, Jesus kept the promise he made to His disciples.
“I will lay down my life and on the third day, I will raise it up again.”
The cross broke the curse, gave us salvation and everything promised. The empty tomb gives us life!!!!!
Satan was defeated and Jesus came out of the grave victorious!!!!
Hebrews 2:14
“Through death He might destroy him who had the power of death…”
Revelation 5:9
“You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”
👉 That’s Genesis 12 fulfilled—ALL nations blessed!
John 20:11–18 “But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher). Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ” Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.”
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
