Hebrews 1:1–4 CSB
1 Long ago God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets at different times and in different ways. 2 In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. 4 So he became superior to the angels, just as the name he inherited is more excellent than theirs.
Big Idea:
Easter proves that Jesus is the promised King from David’s line—and His kingdom will never end.

Introduction

My King was born King. The Bible says my King is a sevenway King: He's the King of the Jews. That's a racial King. He's the King of Israel. That's a national King. He's the King of righteousness. He's the King of the ages. He's the King of Heaven. He's the King of Glory. He's the King of Kings and He is the Lord of Lords. Now, that's my King. Well, I wonder, do you know Him? Do you know Him? Don’t try to mislead me, do you know my King? David said, "The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth His handiwork." My King is the only one whom... There’s no means of measure can define His limitless love. No farseeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supplies. No barrier can hinder Him from pouring out His blessings. Well, Well, He's enduringly strong. He's entirely sincere. He's eternally steadfast. He's immortally graceful. He's imperially powerful. He's impartially merciful. That’s my King He's God's Son. He's the sinner's Saviour. He's the centre-piece of civilisation. He stands alone in Himself. He's august and He's unique. He's unparalleled. He's unprecedented. He’s supreme. He’s pre-eminent. He's the loftiest idea in literature. He's the highest personality in philosophy. He's the supreme problem in higher criticism. He's the fundamental doctrine of true theology. He's the core and necessity of spiritual religion. That’s my King! He's the miracle of the age. He's the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him. Well, He's the only one able to supply all of our needs simultaneously. He supplies strength to the weak. He's available for the tempted and the tried. He sympathises and He saves. He our guard and He guides. He heals the sick. He cleanses the lepers. He forgives sinners. He discharges debtors. He delivers the captives. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent and He beautifies the meek. Do you know Him? Well! My King is the Key of knowledge. He’s the Wellspring of wisdom. He’s the Doorway of deliverance. He's the Pathway of peace. He's the Roadway of righteousness. He's the Highway of holiness. He's the Gateway of glory. He’s the Master of the mighty. He’s the Captain of the conquerors. He’s the Head of the heroes. He’s the Leader of the legislators. He’s the Overseer of the overcomers. He’s the Governor of governors. He’s the Prince of princes. He’s the King of kings and He’s the Lord of lords. That’s my King! Yeah! Yeah! That’s my King. My King. Yeah, His office is manifold. His promise is sure. His life is matchless. His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes. His word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous. And His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Well… I wish I could describe Him to you! But He, He's indescribable. He's indescribable, Yes! He, He's incomprehensible. He's invincible. He's irresistible! I’ve come to tell you, the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him let alone a man explain Him. You can't get Him out of your mind. You can't get Him off of your hand. You can't out live Him and You can't live without Him. Well, the Pharisees couldn't stand Him, but they found out they couldn't stop Him. Pilate couldn't find any fault in Him. The witnesses couldn't get their testimonies to agree. Herod couldn't kill Him. Death couldn't handle Him and the grave couldn't hold Him. That's my King, yeah! He always has been, and he always will be. I’m talking about… He has no predecessor, and He’ll have no successor. There was nobody before Him and there’ll be nobody after Him. You can’t impeach Him, and He’s not going to resign. That’s my King! Great is the Lord! That’s my king!
Today we come to celebrate that Jesus though he died on the cross for our sins, He rose again to defeat sin and death and go to sit at the right hand of God. Jesus is King of kings. we have been walking through the books of Samuel and the idea that Jesus was the rgeater king that the people had been looking for but the promise was for another generation.
The Resurrection proves that Jesus Christ is what He claimed to be, the very Son of God. He had told His disciples that He would be raised from the dead, but they had not grasped the meaning of this truth (Mark 9:9-10, 31; 10:34). Even the women who came early to the tomb did not expect to see Him alive. In fact, they had purchased spices to complete the anointing that Joseph and Nicodemus had so hastily begun.
When you combine the accounts in the Gospels, you arrive at the following probable order of Resurrection appearances on that first day of the week: (1) to Mary Magdalene (John 20:11-18 and Mark 16:9-11), (2) to the other women (Matt. 28:9-10), (3) to Peter (Luke 24:34 and 1 Cor. 15:5), (4) to the two men going to Emmaus (Mark 16:12 and Luke 24:13-32), and (5) to ten of the disciples in the Upper Room (Mark 16:14 and John 20:19-25).
The message of the cross is Good news, good news from the grave. Such amazing news that needs to change our lives. Let’s look into what happened that fateful day.
HBI - In Jesus raising from the dead God has made him heir of all things so then our response is to worship Jesus as king. All Hail King Jesus, all hail emmanuel

God Promised an Eternal King

I like how all the bible is tied together, even though it was written over generations, it is one continuious message. 2 Samuel speaks of a king that is to come and here we have a bit of a recap of what we have gone through so far.
In 2 Samuel 5, David is finally established as king over all Israel. His success—military, political, and spiritual—comes not from strength alone but from seeking the Lord. Whether capturing Jerusalem or defeating the Philistines, David models that confidence comes from walking in God’s will, not human ability.
In 2 Samuel 6, the focus shifts to worship. Israel’s mistake shows that enthusiasm without obedience is not true worship. God’s holiness demands that He be approached according to His Word. When David corrects his approach, obedience leads to blessing and joyful, humble worship.
Finally, in 2 Samuel 7, the theological center of the series emerges. David desires to build a house for God, but God promises instead to build David an eternal house—a dynasty culminating in an eternal King. This covenant points directly to Jesus, who fulfills the promise of an everlasting kingdom and brings God’s presence to His people.
Across these sermons, one message remains clear: God is sovereign, His promises are sure, and His kingdom is established not through human strength, but through His grace—ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Even now when we remember the easter message we can look back and remember that God’s promises are sure. We need to remeber this because as we see the promise is yet to be fulfilled and what we have right now is the troubles that where promsied, but in the midst of them we are also told we can take heart.
But then reality hits: David dies and his sons fail. The kingdom falls apart So the question lingers:
How can an eternal kingdom come through a dying king? In Chapter 7 we learned that God promised David that “I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever” “Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever”2 Sam 7:13-14
2 Samuel 7:13–14 CSB
13 He is the one who will build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and blows from mortals.
But then we have that tension of people dying and the promise not being fulfilled seemingly.
David dies, Solomon dies Every king after fails It looks like the promise is breaking.
We often struggle with the same thing: God gave us promises, Life doesn’t match them
This is likely the thing that was going through their heads after all this and the promises that where made. How is God going to do what He said He is going to do? This all looks forward to Easter
Easter is the answer.

Jesus Is the True Son of David - Luke 24

Key idea: God’s promise was bigger than David.
We must remember that God’s promises are not limited by human weakness or human obedience or His promsies would never come to pass.
So we Jump forward to the New Testament:
Matthew 12:23 Jesus is repeatedly called “Son of David”
Matthew 12:23 CSB
23 All the crowds were astounded and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
Born in David’s city (Bethlehem), He fulfills the covenant promise But then…
He is crucified. and it would seem like At that moment, it looks like: Another failed king and Another broken hope.
But The Resurrection Changes Everything
The resurrection is not just a miracle—it’s a coronation of the king of kings.
The enpty tomb represents great things. The enemy has been defeated, Death is defeated, The King lives. Satan has already been defeated, the rest of the story Just has to play out. Luke 24:1-6
Luke 24:1–6 CSB
1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 3 They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood by them in dazzling clothes. 5 So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground. “Why are you looking for the living among the dead?” asked the men. 6 “He is not here, but he has risen! Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee,
The angel says: “He is not here, but has risen.” This is a major turning point
Why this matters:
If Jesus stays dead:, He’s just another teacher, He is just another failed king and then we have to wait for one more. In fact some people are still waiting for the messiah and king. He is the eternal King God promised.
Easter Proves the Covenant Is Fulfilled (Acts 2)
Remember back to Genesis and the promise to abraham, How god would make Abraham and his family a blessing to the nations. The ternal kingdom is what this is looking forward to.
2 Samuel 7:16 CSB
16 Your house and kingdom will endure before me forever, and your throne will be established forever.’ ”
A blessing to the nations and an eternal kingdom that we can be a part of. This is the promise that David was given and that was fulfilled in Jesus on that blessed Easter sunday Morning. This blessing is for all people and we can read about it at the end of Luke 24:46-49
Luke 24:46–49 CSB
46 He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day, 47 and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”
The resurrection is proof that Jesus is reigning now.
Not someday. Not just spiritually.
Right now.
ANd we can become a part of His kingdom if we do what Jesus said, repent for the forgiveness of your sins. The Kingdom of God is here and now, and it will come to pass, we have access to this blessing of being part of the Kingfom of God so then the last point is.

What is Our Response to the Risen King

1. Humility and Submission to the King,

“Who am I, O Lord God?”
We don’t deserve this King, We don’t earn this kingdom. Yet it is freely offered to us anyways. this is what we are called to, on our knees in humility knowing that He and His eternal life is the blessing that was promised
when called by God Isaiah had the same response, whoah is me for i am a man of unclean lips. we do not deserve this blessing. But we are offered it freely and that should remind us of our proper place in the relationship between us and God.
Jesus isn’t just Savior—He is King.
We don’t just believe in Him
We follow Him

2. Trust in God’s Faithfulness

Sometimes Life looks broken, sometimes it seems like the promsie is delayed or will never come to pass. But we can trust in God. And what the promise looks forward to is the fact that Jesus is coming back again and we can trust in the faithfulness of the word of God.
Easter says: God keeps His word.

3. Hope in Eternal Life

Because He lives:
Death is not the end
The kingdom is secure
👉 The promise to David becomes a promise to us.
On , people welcomed Jesus as King
The throne wasn’t a cross—but the cross led to the throne.
Closing Statement
David’s throne looked like it ended in a grave.
But Easter declares:
👉 The true King walked out of His grave. 👉 His kingdom is alive. 👉 And it will never end.
“The empty tomb proves the eternal King is reigning.”
