And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God:
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.
For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
for these two vs.
Q. why is the resurrection so important?
through the cross came death...
...the penelty of sin
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
if in the spirit we died with Christ in His death...
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
this means that my debt has been paid. through Christ, but I am in death… i an still dead...
there has to be a resurrection if we are to be alive in Christ...
...without Christ’s resurrection I can not live in Christ and come to know God.
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
firstfruits -
micheal reeves sermon on resurrection. suggests relationship between fruit and it’s seeds, as a way to answer
Q. how does the sin of Adam affect my spirit?
HE states, the seeds of the fruit are inside the fruit, and are directly affected by the state of and health of the fruit.
therefore because we are in Adam ( part of the human race), and because Adam sinned. we are in that sin because we are the seeds of Adam ( the firstfruit of sin)
this priciple holds true to Christ...
...for us to be saved...
...we need a different ID..
...we need to become seeds in a different fruit. so we must die to Adam, and be ressurected in Christ...
For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
NEW ID IN CHRIST.
Q. How do you tell someone’s ID?
A. by their head, by their face.
our new ID is Christ...
...Chirst is the head of us...
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
