Mary looking into the sepulchre
Mary looking into the sepulchre
John 20:11–12 “But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.”
Its is the mirror the Mercy seat of the ark of the covenant!
The place where Gods Righteous Justice meets Mercy
The greek word for propitiation used in Romans 3:25, 1 John 2:2, 1 John 4:10 “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” The word used is Hilasterion: which literally translates to Mercy seat. the septuagint uses it to translate the Hebrew word Kapporet.
Exodus 25:17–22 “And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”
In Numbers 7:89 It talks about Moses’ talking with God from above the Mercy Seat. “And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.”
Jesus fulfills this part as well in the fact that he has ascended into Heaven and now our mediator and intercessor to the Father.
Jesus has sat at the right hand of the Father for over 2,000 years. Hebrews 4:16 Calls this place the Throne Of Grace, saying, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
But He will not be there forever church.
Someday. maybe sooner than we think He will Leave the throne of Grace and All the world is going to meet him in one of two places.
The Judgement Seat, or as Paul first called it the Bema seat of Christ mentioned in 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” This judgment is for believers, and is not salvation based. But is where Jesus will test our works for the kingdom in fire. Its here that we will receive our crowns based on our our walk with Him.
Crowns of Glory, Crowns of life, Crowns of Righteousness, Incorruptible Crowns, and Crowns of rejoicing.
We will cast them right back at Jesus’ feet like the 24 elders in Revelation 4. They are rewards given to us for service that we were only able to to accomplish through the strength of Jesus. We are but branches, and can do nothing apart from abiding in the vine. He is the only one worthy of crowns!
But there is another Judgment spoken of by Jesus Himself to John in Revelation 20
Revelation 20:11–15 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
This is where the time of God’s Grace runs out. Jesus turns from being the mercy seat, into the Judge of world
If we could drag them, kicking and screaming before the Throne Of Grace to the Mercy Seat Church.
