TURN: The events depicted in Mark 16 are the ultimate example of subverted expectations…

1. The women expected to see Jesus’s body (Develop Inductively) (Mark 16:1-3)

Mary, Mary, and Salome went to anoint Jesus’s body (Mark 16:1-2)

They worried about removing the heavy stone (Mark 16:3)

2. The women encountered the reality of the resurrection (Develop Inductively) (Mark 16:4-7)

The stone was rolled away (Mark 16:4)

An angel told them Jesus was alive (Mark 16:5-7)

3. The reality of the resurrection changed everything for them (Mark 16:8)

Main Idea: We can’t live as if the tomb is full when Jesus is walking around

APPLICATION: The way you respond to the gospel message reveals what you think about Jesus. (1) “I don’t know how i feel about religion”; (2) “I do what I want with my life and God will work things out”; (3) “I earn my way to heaven”; (4) I submit to Jesus by faith…
