Welcome to the memorial service for Alicia Chasity Lopez...
May I say thank you and behalf of Chasity and the Lopez family...thank you for being here to support them in such a heart wrenching time.
To Chasity, Charlie and Maria Lopez, Thank you for allowing me to be here with you today and share during this occasion.
I know today will be hard for you as it would be hard for anyone. But we will begin with prayer and ask the Lord to meet us where we are today and to give us the comfort that His Holy Spirit brings.
Would you Pray with me?
We came here today to pay respect to the Lopez family and lay this little to rest.
An occasion like this is not easy, but for those of us who know Christ, the Bible says we do not grieve as the world grieves, as though we have no hope.
Why? Because we have a hope! A certain hope!
We rejoice in the Lord because He is good in spite of the circumstances of this day.
God’s Word reminds us of His comfort:
Psalm 34:18 ESV
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Psalm 147:3 ESV
3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 ESV
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
Revelation 21:4 ESV
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
2 Samuel 12:16–18 ESV
16 David therefore sought God on behalf of the child. And David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. 17 And the elders of his house stood beside him, to raise him from the ground, but he would not, nor did he eat food with them. 18 On the seventh day the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, ...”
2 Samuel 12:23 ESV
23 But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.”
