Juan 20:1–9 NTV

El domingo por la mañana temprano, mientras aún estaba oscuro, María Magdalena llegó a la tumba y vio que habían rodado la piedra de la entrada. Corrió y se encontró con Simón Pedro y con el otro discípulo, a quien Jesús amaba. Les dijo: «¡Sacaron de la tumba el cuerpo del Señor, y no sabemos dónde lo pusieron!». Pedro y el otro discípulo se dirigieron a la tumba. Ambos iban corriendo, pero el otro discípulo corrió más aprisa que Pedro y llegó primero a la tumba. Se agachó a mirar adentro y vio los lienzos de lino apoyados ahí, pero no entró. Luego llegó Simón Pedro y entró en la tumba. Él también notó los lienzos de lino allí, pero el lienzo que había cubierto la cabeza de Jesús estaba doblado y colocado aparte de las otras tiras. Entonces el discípulo que había llegado primero a la tumba también entró y vio y creyó, porque hasta ese momento aún no habían entendido las Escrituras que decían que Jesús tenía que resucitar de los muertos.

Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed—for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.

Que toda la alabanza sea para Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Es por su gran misericordia que hemos nacido de nuevo, porque Dios levantó a Jesucristo de los muertos. Ahora vivimos con gran expectación y tenemos una herencia que no tiene precio, una herencia que está reservada en el cielo para ustedes, pura y sin mancha, que no puede cambiar ni deteriorarse. Por la fe que tienen, Dios los protege con su poder hasta que reciban esta salvación, la cual está lista para ser revelada en el día final, a fin de que todos la vean.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

Así que piensen con claridad y ejerciten el control propio. Pongan su esperanza en la salvación inmerecida que recibirán cuando Jesucristo sea revelado al mundo. Por lo tanto, vivan como hijos obedientes de Dios. No vuelvan atrás, a su vieja manera de vivir, con el fin de satisfacer sus propios deseos. Antes lo hacían por ignorancia, pero ahora sean santos en todo lo que hagan, tal como Dios, quien los eligió, es santo. Pues las Escrituras dicen: «Sean santos, porque yo soy santo».

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
