-The following point is the reason for the previous point.
THE GRACE OF GOD.
-It is the unmerited favor that God has so richly lavished upon us through faith.
THE GRACE OF GOD
-Godʼs power unleashed on behalf of undeserving people through the work of the Christ Jesus on the Cross.

-Its justifies us before a Holy God, but its work is beyond justification.
-It sustains us, strengthens us, it transforms us, it sanctifies us and ultimately it glorifies God in us.
THEN WE BEGIN TO LEARN ABOUT GOD’S GRACE.

I. GOD’S GRACE IS A PERSON

-”hath appeared” -phrase often used to describe the divine appearing of Roman Emperors
-”has appeared” -phrase often used to describe the divine appearing of Roman Emperors
-lit. to illuminate, has been made to appear, to shine forth
-We know who this embodiment of God’s grace is…because it says that His appearing “bringeth salvation”
-The only royal appearing that brings salvation is that of the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ!
-Jesus is the divine manifestation of Godʼs grace.
-His appearing was not superficial
ILLUST: SUPERFICIAL APPEARING OF PASTORS.
-tried to pastor everybody
-Pastor the entire community…the problem with that streaches so thin
-You cannot be every where at one time.
-So he would show up…wave…kiss some babies…and slip out the back.
Superficial…not meaninful.
-OUr Lord did appear superficially…he appeared sacrificially.
-He didnt come to shake hands
-He came to have his hands pierced.
-He didnt give us a brief moment of his time…he is with us always…will never leave or forsake us.
-He didnt come in a way that was not meaninful....his coming means EVERYTHING

II. GOD’S GRACE IS THE ACTIVE WORK OF THE FATHER IN THE SON
-Passive - grammatical voice - subject is acted upon “has been made to appear” divine passive
-Over and over again “He who sent me”
-Over and over again “He who sent me”
in “He who sent me”
- ‘whoever receives me receives him who sent me.”
-displays the depths of his love’
-MY SONS - I would take the cross for them-i would not send the to the cross for you

II. GOD’S GRACE IS THE ACTIVE WORK OF THE FATHER IN THE SON
III. GODʼS GRACE HAS SET US FREE FROM THE PENALTY OF SIN
“bringeth salvation”
Salvation- denotes deliverance - rescue
-almost always refers to deliverance from sin and its consequences
SPIRITUAL DEATH AND ETERNAL DAMNATION
-You have been set free from the bondage of sin!

GOD’S GRACE HAS SET US FREE FROM THE BONDAGE OF SIN....
-ARE LIVING LIKE YOU ARE FREE?
-ARE YOU LIVING LIKE YOU ARE CAPTIVE?
-IT IS WELL
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
My sin—oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!— My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
