Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice He said Father into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, He gave up the Ghost.
Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice He said Father into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, He gave up the Ghost.
Jesus articulates seven final expressions on the cross. The number seven is highly significant in scripture and its importance is established from the very beginning of the the OT through the final book of the NT.
The number seven appears approximately seven hundred times in the Word of God. In fact the principles of Biblical Hermeneutics ( which is the study of principles, methods, and rules used to interpret, understand and apply the text of the Bible correctly) inculcates or teaches the numerical (not numerology) principles of God.
According to J. Edwin Hartell, he says this, the number seven by definition is the number of God’s divine fullness, divine perfection, and divine completeness. Lets walk through the scriptures a little bit:
1] (Genesis 2:2-3) And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made and rested on the seventh day from all his work which He had made. 3) And God blessed the seven day and made it Holy:
2] (Genesis 9:12-17) God makes a covenant with Noah and Himself and every living creature of all flesh. The Bible says that God puts a bow in the clouds and that bow had seven colours (the old King James version never said a rainbow) and that bow was a gesture of respect, that every time God would see that bow in the clouds He would remember His own covenant He made with every creature of living flesh:
Wait a minute the devil tries to duplicate everything that God’s does for good and make it something diabolical. He distorts the bow that God establishes as a covenant and uses a man by the name of Gilbert Baker in 1978 to create a symbol (idol) of perversion and the people that worshipped this symbol became full of pride. Tell your neighbor pride comes before the fall. God’s not going to have no other God before Him.
3] (Joshua 6:1-2) The bibles says that God commanded the Israelites to walk around Jericho for seven days with seven Priest and the Priest had to bare the seven trumpets of rams horn.
4] (2 Kings 5:10) The Prophet Elisha sent a message to a man named Naaman who had leprosy, the bible said that his flesh was falling from his body and told him to wash himself in the Jordan seven times.
5] (Matt18:21-22) Peter said to Jesus how many times should I forgive my brother that sin against, till seven times seven? Jesus says I say not unto seven times, but until seventy times seven.
6] (Rev 1:4) the Bible says that there are seven spirits that stand before the throne of God.
7] (Rev 1:14-17) the Apostle John describes the seven Glories of the Son of Man, John says His head and His Hair were White like Wool as White as Snow and His Eyes were as a Flame of Fire, His Feet was like unto Fine Brass as if they burned in a furnace, His Voice was as the Sound of many Waters and out of HIs Mouth went a Sharp Two Edged Sword, His Countenance was as the Sun Shineth in His Strength and John said when I saw Him i fell at his feet like a dead man.
Here we are now at the seven last expressions from Jesus recorded from the cross. These expressions Jesus spoke from the cross in the Greek and Arabic language constitutes forty-nine words broken down mathematically is seven times seven which is the divine completeness of God plan at the cross.
Not only does Jesus articulate these aphorisms but instructs us of seven divine assignments whereby we must live.
1) Father forgive them for they know not what they do. You’ve got to learn how to forgive and let go. The Bible say, (Matt 6:14-17) For if you forgive men that sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you, but if you can’t forgive your Heavenly Father won’t forgive you.
2) Truly I say unto you, today you shall be with me in paradise. (1 Cor 15:51-52) Behold I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but in a moment in a twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet , (tell your neighbor if you live right heaven belongs to you.)
3) Woman behold thy son, son behold thy mother. Jesus wanted you to know you’ve got to have Love for one another, Mary J. Blige said real love, but the Bible says Agape love. (Matt 22:37-39) thou shalt love the Lord with all your heart mind and soul for this is the greatest commandment, but the second is like unto the first love your neighbor as if it was yourself. these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
4) My God My God why has thou forsaken me. God does not respond to sin. (Isa 59:2) but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His Face from you that he will not hear. I hear the word of the Lord saying, come out from amongst them and be separated says the Lord. touch not the unclean things and i will receive you. somebody tell your neighbor come out, come out. Come out of that closet you hiding in, come out bedroom you sleeping in, come out of those night clubs and bars you been going to. Come out.
5) I thirst. You got to have a profound spiritual hunger and dependence for God in these last days (Matt 5:6) blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. put your hand on your self and say Lord fill me with your Holy Spirit.
6) It is finished. Tell your neighbor you cant stop now. Paul writes to Timothy (2 Tim4:7-8) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith, because when it all over 8) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.
7) And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, He said Father into thy Hands I commend My Spirit, and He gave up the Ghost. One theologian said it would have been unusual for any man that was nailed to a tree for such a long period of time, near death would have that type of strength to cry as loud as Jesus did. I can only image that when Jesus cried with that loud cry, it was shock waves penetrating throughout the universe. Wikipedia says that the universe is the totality of all space, time, matter, and energy, comprising everything that exist. That’s who Jesus is. (John 1:1-3) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God 2) The same was in the beginning with God 3) All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. I can only imagine when Jesus cried with a loud voice that hell heard the cry. Those that died in sin tried to hide their faces from the judgement of Jesus to come, but those that died in the faith started to shout the victory (Heb 11:13, 16) These all died in faith, not having recieved the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth; wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. (Some of ya’ll are building kingdoms right here.)
I can only imagine when Jesus cried Father into Thy Hands I commend My spirit, that the heavens shook, and demons begin to tremble in fear and the angels fell to their faces everywhere and began to worship Jesus (1 Pet 4:19) Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the Keeping of their souls to Him in well doing as a faithful Creator.
