Introduction

Do you ever think about how unique the human body is?Here are some facts about the human body. When you blush, the lining of your stomach blushes too. The human brain can read up to 1,000 words per minute. A human eye can distinguish up to 10 million different colors. But our brain can’t remember all of them. In an adult human, 25% of their bones are in the feet I mean think about. You use 200 muscles to take one step. The human body is amazing. Each part of the body has its own function, yet it all works together perfectly.
In , Paul compares the human body to the body of Christ. In the Church at Corinth there was much division within the church. There were fights, rumors, and factions all happening in the church. And although the Corinthians possessed spiritual gifts, their church was plagued with disunity. In the earlier chapters of Corinthians, addresses the disorder and divisions in the the church. The church of Corthin sent Paul a list of questions in which he answer them in a way that meant to correct the disunity int he Church and to show how important it is that they live what they believe. We can only imagine that one of the questions that was asked of Paul was “Are some spiritual gifts better than others? or “Does everyone in the church have a certain role?” We can assume this because chapter 12 is in the section where Paul is addressing the questions that the Corthins had. Paul reminds them that just as the physical body has many parts that depend on each other, so it is with the members of Christ’s body. The members of the body depend on each other and build unity by realizing that we need each other, respecting each other, and sympathize with each other.

Point 1: Realizing that we need each other (12:14-20)

Do we actually need each other? I have often heard that people state that they do not need to be member of a church to be a part of the body of Christ and to worship God. While I do think that we can worship God on our own, I think that there is something about being in the body of believers that deepens our relationship with Christ. We have this mind set that we do not need others because we live in a very individual life style. We live in a “me” center world.

Point 2: Respecting each other (12:21-25)

Point 3: Sympathizing with each other (12:26, 12-13)
