What is anxiety?
It is an emotion that is a response to a bunch of crazy stuff going on in your brain that is trying to tell you to be nervous or afraid of something. This may be from an actual thing in your life, or it may be in your subconscious.
Anxiety is part of our fallen nature. God did not make us to be anxious, but instead, we live in a fallen world where things either make us anxious, or our flesh makes us anxious.
Our flesh naturally does not want to trust God that everything will be okay, because our flesh doesn’t know that everything will be okay. Studies show that the human brain is naturally negative. It is in our fleshly nature to think negative.
What are some things in society that you think makes people more anxious?
Negative people (your company)

What does this mean for me?
This means that when you are having negative thoughts, anxious thoughts, depressed thoughts, etc. it does not mean that there is something wrong with you. It is part of your flesh. Romans 8:7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”
This does not mean that being anxious or having a negative thought pattern about something means you can’t draw close to God. It means that it is 100% normal to feel that way. It is something that we all experience. Even men and women in the Bible experienced.
King David
1 Samuel 30:3–6 “So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.”
Elijah
1 Kings 19:1–7 “And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.”
Anxiety, negative thoughts, etc. is not a mountain that you can’t climb nor deal with. God is very clear in the Bible in His promises for us. God does not leave us helpless. But first, we must understand what it is, and it is a thought pattern that stems from our flesh. Anxiety does not come from God, it comes from our flesh.
Anxiety is not a sin neither. When dealing with anxiety, negative thoughts, lustful thoughts in our life, it is not something that you can just stifle and shove down. That is trying to fight it on our own, and we will lose that battle.
