God Exists
God Exists
The scripture simply states that God exists
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
It presents God as the creator
Everyone has a deep inner sense that God exists
Although many reject that God exists, Paul says that they exchanged the truth for a lie
because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
Creation gives us evidence of God’s existence
God is Knowable
God is Knowable
. God exists in a way that we can know things about him
We will never fully know God
He is infinite and we are finite
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
While we will never fully know God we can know him personally
And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
WE can also know about God thru Scriptures
God is Independent

God doesn’t need us or anything else in creation
He didn’t create us because he was lonely
He is completely happy and fulfilled
The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
He was not created, never came into being
He is not dependent on anyone for anything
Though he is independent, he chooses to give us value and significance
He allows us to be important to him
God is Unchangeable

God is unchangeable in his being, attributes, purposes, and promises
“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
God is also unchangeable in his purposes
Once he determines to something he will bring it about
God is unchanging in his promises
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it?
God is Eternal
God is Eternal
God has no beginning or end
He is the first and last
to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
His view of time is radically different
But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
God views the whole span of history as vividly as he would if it were a brief event that just happened
God sees and knows all events
God is Omnipresent

Omnipresent = present in every point of space with his whole being
He is unlimited by space
He is everywhere all at once
“Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.
Often God is present to bless
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
God is present to keep the universe functioning
God is Spirit
God is Spirit
Jesus said that God was spirit and not limited by space
God is not made of any matter
God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
He has gifted us with spirits in which we are to worship him
God is Invisible

Because God is Spirit, God is also invisible
Jesus said:
No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
People have seen outward manifestations
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Moses saw God’s backside
God is Omniscient
God is Omniscient
Omniscient = God knows everything
Omniscient = God knows everything
for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
He knows all actual and possible things
He knows all things that exist and all that happens
He knows all things he could’ve done but did not do
God is always at all times, fully aware of everything
He is the only one who has this full and complete knowledge of the future
God’s knowledge never changes or grows
God is Wise
God is Wise
God is all wise
He always chooses the best possible goals and means to meet those goals
to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.
HIs wisdom is also shown through the lives of those who love God
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Godly wisdom is discovered through reading and obeying God’s Word
God is Truthful

All his knowledge and all his words are both true and the final standard of truth
But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King.
At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation.
Once he says something we can count on him doing it
God is Good
God is Good
Jesus said there is nothing Good except God
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
There is no higher standard of goodness than God’s own character and his approval of whatever is consistent with that character
God’s goodness can often be seen through his mercy and grace
God is Love
God is Love
God eternally gives of himself for the good of others
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
It was evident in the love that God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit all had for each other.
Because God has loved and will love us for all eternity, we are able to give that love freely to others
Like God’s love, our love is to be self-giving
God is Holy
God is Holy
This means he is separated from sin and devoted to seeking his own honor
“Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.
God disciplines his children so that they share his holiness
God is Righteous & Just
God is Righteous & Just
God always acts in accordance with what is right, for he himself is the final standard of what is right
“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.
Because God is righteous and just, he must treat people as they deserve
God is able to forgive people because Christ died to take God’s punishment for sin
God is all powerful, eventually all things be made right
WE should always seek to do what is right and to bring about justice on behalf of those who are not experiencing it
God is Jealous

God continually seeks to protect his own honor
You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
God is Wrathful toward Sin
God is Wrathful toward Sin
God intensely hates sin
God’s wrath burns hot against sin, and it is this wrath that will eventually consume those who reject Jesus and continue in their sin
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
WE are encouraged to follow God’s example to hate sin and wickedness
We should pray that evildoers would repent and trust Christ for forgiveness
God Wills What He Will
God Wills What He Will
God’s will is the ultimate reason for everything that happens
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,
Sometimes God’s will is clearly revealed
At other times Scripture doesn’t give us clear direction
Our attitude should be one of humble reliance on God and his sovereign control
When we explain evil as the result of God’s will, it can sound as if God is to be blamed for evil and sin
Human beings and angels are always blamed for evil
God is not to be blamed for, or thought responsible for, sinful or evil things.
God is Omnipotent

Omnipotent = All Powerful
Omnipotent = All Powerful
God is all powerful
He is able to do all his holy will
‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
There are some things God cannot do
He can’t do anything that denies his character
He cannot lie
He cannot be tempted with evil
He cannot deny himself
God is Perfect
God is Perfect
God fully possess all excellent qualities and lacks no part of any qualities that would be desirable for him
You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
