The True Vine

John 15:1–8 NKJV
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

God’s Vineyard (Isaiah 5:1-7)

Jesus is the True Vine

I am the True Vine” (John 15:1)
“I am the Vine” (John 15:5)

We are the Branches

Branches must abide in the Vine.
Branches can produce nothing apart from Him.
Fruitfulness is simply the result of yielding to the Spirit within.
Human efforts to be fruitful result in dead works.
We abide in Jesus by abiding in His Word.
John 8:31 NKJV
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
John 15:7 NKJV
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

The Father is the Vinedresser

He REMOVES branches that do not bear fruit.
He CASTS OUT branches that do not abide in Him.
They wither, are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.
He PRUNES the branches that bear fruit so that they may bear more fruit.
He is GLORIFIED when we bear much fruit.
John 15:8 NKJV
By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
God seeks fruit that remains.
John 15:16 NKJV
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

Response to the Word

Are you connected to Jesus, The True Vine?
Are you abiding in Him?
Are you bearing fruit?
Are you bearing fruit that remains?
