Text: Luke 8:1–25; 9:1–6 The Unusual Emphasis: In the Kingdom, power isn't found in loud proclamations, but in receptive hearing. Jesus emphasizes that the "secrets of the kingdom" are available to everyone, yet only take root in those with a certain kind of "soil" (heart). The Discipleship Call: To be a disciple is to be a listener. It requires moving from being a "spectator" of the miracles to a "participant" in the mission (sending out the Twelve). Sermon Goal: Challenge the congregation to evaluate their "hearing." Are we consumers of the Word, or is the seed actually changing our internal landscape?
