When polling about the second coming a Pew research poll in 2022 found this:
When asked if Jesus “will return to Earth someday,” more than half of all U.S. adults (55%), including three-quarters of Christians, say this will happen. Protestants in the evangelical (92%) and historically Black (86%) traditions are more likely than other Christians to say there will eventually be a second coming of Jesus. Roughly four-in-ten Americans either do not believe Jesus will return to Earth (25%) or say they do not believe in Jesus (16%).

I think some ministers would do far more for the profit of God’s people, if they would preach more about the first advent and less about the second. But I have chosen this topic because I believe it has practical bearings, and may be made useful, instructive, and rousing to us all.

We teach Pre-mil understanding, which means when we read the Bible we see the events of prophecy as future for example the bible teaches a 1000 year kingdom in Rev. 20:2-3
2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
After the initial end times events of the tribulation. We understand this as it is the plain reading of the text.
If you read the text plainly you would come to a pre-mil understanding

What does that mean? Well if you take a plain reading of the text you have to come to the conclusion that these events described in the last book or in Matthew 24. Are future events, both in their time, Jesus literally predicted the destruction of the temple in 70 AD, and shows us an event yet to come. I personally believe that future prophecy has may fulfillments so while we wait for the final coming, many small “a” anti-christs have come and gone, many small “a” apostacies have come and gone as well. The large one is to come soon in the future.
Let me share with you two things wan can get from a Pre-mill understanding

We take the bible literally - meaning we read it as it was written in the genre it was written in. For example when Jesus says I am the door, we don’t believe He became an actual door, we believe that he is being symbolic. he is the way , the truth, and the life. He is using words to paint a picture for your mind.
So if you are reading the Bible you take the plain reading of the text in light of all of Revelation and the plain understanding of words as to what they mean, when they are written.
So for example when it comes to Philippians we are reading someone else's mail, so we read it for what it meant to them, but we take application for us, because the letter was meant to be shared around!
When we went through Ruth last year we read it as a true story. Mail vs. narrative, or story telling.
When we read the book of Revelation you’ll see narrative an lots of symbolism.
Before I was a Christian I was confused as to why a lamb was worthy to open the scroll Rev. 5:12
12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
We take that text in light of other Biblical text and understand that this is about Jesus. Who is our passover lamb, the last sacrifice ever needed for sin, for those that believe.

All prophecy has a literal fulfiment to it. God said it would flood it did. God said I'll take you out of Egypt he did, God said obey me or I’ll take you out of the land He did it. God said i’ll bring you back into the land He did it, God said he’d send Jesus, he did. God said he’d give his people a new heart, if you believe he did it, All that’s next is his second coming.
So let me repeat myself, God gives you his word, you can bank on it. You read the Bible God makes a promise he does it. All prophecy is fulfilled literally it’s a matter of when not if.
So you’re speaking to someone about this, they say it’s never going to happen? Tell them in Genesis 3 it speaks about Jesus saying he’d come, and He did, why would God be right then but not about what’s next?

So in light of what we just learned we are going to look at a few verse across the book of Revelation. (READ ONLY THE VERSE ADDRESSES)
1 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
1 Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals.
13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs.
19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army.
2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
Jesus brought John these visions, today by the Holy Spirit hear these words and come look with the eyes of your soul today.
In both cases “Then I saw” or “after this I looked” The word in the Greek for looked and saw is the same word. The idea here is John is seeing the event. In my mind is like a husband watching the birth of his children. It’s an event that we see, that we behold, a man does very little on the day of a babies birth when things go by the book! You are their to see. john was being shown the future, through his old eyes.
He was a teenager when he walked with the Lord Jesus and at the end of his life he received these visions where Jesus in his goodness got stepped back into his beloved disciples life and showed him what’s next.
This phrase is used 56 times in the book of Revelation alone.

This first I looked is to point us to the events that are to come
IF you look at chapter 4 and 5 it is filled with worship! Heaven’s throne room is beautiful. You see the saints and the elders worshipping him. The Entire event of Revelation is wrapped up in worship! The throne room, the very presence of God is more then we can imagine!
Listen to these words:
8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, 10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
13 And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
14 And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
So the future is not scary, but it is filled with worship! It’s filled with the presecense of the saints! The Future is all about Jesus. Yes you may have a hard tomorrow, but your God is in tomorrow!
And you and I will be, if the Lord tarys and we experience natural death amongst the saints singing an praising! being in the presences of God. no longer under the yoke of sin, and hurt, and brokenness.

Don’t fear tomorrow. Your God, your Jesus is holding the scroll of tomorrow. I just got the news about one of my former students who is a new mom, 25 and has class three heart failure. they say 3 to 5 years if treatment doesn’t work. I spoke to her husband and you can see the far off look i his eyes, the prospect of being a single dad with a 5 year old. I spoke to her Dad and you could hear the shake in his voice. I saw her eyes and I see both the bravery and the fear. Fighting to trust in God.
Trust in your God, don’t fear tomorrow. Tomorrow will be filled with more then we can imagine. Jesus will be their, he is going to receive you into his arms, he will wipe your tears away, he will bring you full healing.
Look forward to those days.

Jesus is going to bring Freedom from Evil
19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
The false trinity will be defeated.
Today the Dragon is deceiving the nations as we speak
13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. 14 For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.
This is both to come and today! You can’t trust social media, the news the small anti-christ lie as easily as they breath. They say that men and women aren’t real. They call good evil, and evil good.
You can see the kings of the world are being woo’d into the love of murder and the hatred of JEsus. This is all to prepare for this final day, but also because today the dragon is active.
Satan is looking for someone to devour 1 Peter 5:8
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Do you see that? he imitates Jesus who is the lion of Judah. The false lion is looking to eat you up! the deceptions of our world will increase. You must in this age test everything, walk mindfully.
But have hope The evil trinity will be defeated.

Spiritual warfare is real. to have freedom from evil today, you need to cut out the sources of evil in your life. on online amongst the kids they have this game called red door, yellow door, open the door. That’s straight up witchcraft. The devil and his ilk want permission to open the doors. This is on social media right now. Watch out Parents and grandparents. He’s looking to devour.
If you’ve opened a door in your life, drugs, great and wicked sin that you’re doing right now, occultic practice in your past, you need to close those doors. It’s simple ask the Lord to close your open doors to the devils. Jesus will, I’ve heard and seen some things.
Remind the devils that young below heart, mind, body, and soul to the resurrected triune Jesus. Go through your house praying over the rooms, go around your property doing the same. Would you open the door to a murderer? by the Power of Jesus close those doors to the devil.

Jesus will bring Freedom for you forever.
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. 7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
Just listen to freedoms will will have:
God is with man (v3) We are free from the kings of this world because we are his people (v3)
Free from sadness (v4)
Free from death,
free from mourning,
free from crying repeated,
Free from pain,
free from the former things,
Free from thirst (v7)
Free from lies (v5)
free from payment (v6)
free from the pasts that we have (v7)
But this is only for those that believe listen to verse 8
8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
If you are one of these, and the NT teaches that all of us were, you are not welcome to this freedom, but let me tell you what Jesus the king of Kings does
25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there.
Right now these gates are open for you, but you only have so long. God will destroy all those who love the slavery of these things. Are you a slave to these things? Let me tell you, you are. We grow comfortable in our chains, comfortable in the jail cells of our sin.
But today the gate is open for you, the Lord Jesus bids you come in and believe, he bids you to take on himself, to believe in him, he is the God you hope for, the God your heart has been looking for.
He is truly better then you’ve heard. You must walk out of this, and you walk into the kingdom of open doors, the kingdom of Jesus.
Jesus is more then you can imagine, he is truly the source of all this freedom I’m speaking of. He is. You just need to walk into these gates of his kingdom today. Will you walk in? Please here the voice of your God, he calls you today will you come in?
Time is short for just anyone to walk in? Jesus is calling you, will you heed him?
