Big Idea: We have evidence in the fruit of God working in our lives. We should have confidence that He began a work in us will complete it.

John 15:5 NKJV
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:8 NKJV
By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
Galatians 5:22–23 NKJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Hebrews 11:3 NKJV
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

I. Why Should the believer want to bear fruit

I. Our fruit is our evidence and it points to God

Matthew 5:16 NKJV
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
God is glorified in our fruit. It points to Christ. It is part of our worship

Fruit Flows

Galatians 5:22–23 NKJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Fruit is not forced but it flows from it’s source
Our fruit is the evidence that we are abiding in Christ. These are traits that God cultivates in believers who are in his presence. As we walk in the Spirit and presence of God, we start to see the traits begin to sprout in our lives. If you have a desire to live a life blessed with these traits, that is a sign that Holy Spirit is working in your life. The fruit of the spirit is made evident in a desire to hear and obey the word of God. The se traits are found in the very nature of Christ.
John 15:4,5
John 15:5 NKJV
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

II. To be mature we need the word planted in our Lives

It needs to be planted in your heart
Luke 8:11–15 NKJV
11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
Teh seed must be Watered in the Word and Nurtured in Prayer
Matthew 5:16 NKJV
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
God’s Glory is on display in our fruit.

III. We Must Be patient while God Produces

Often times we get frustrated because we don’t see the seeds sprout soon enough. We have to learn to trust the process. We try to force change when we should be planting the word in our hearts and waiting for the watering of the Holy Spirit.
John 6:63 NKJV
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

IV. There are different types of fruit

A. Soul winning Romans 01:13

Romans 1:13 NKJV
Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.
B. Strong Character Galatians 5
C. Faith Produces Good works Colossians 01:9-14
Colossians 1:9–14 NKJV
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
