What we’ve seen over the past 3 weeks, is that revival is not produced by programs, but it comes through prayer, humility, and seeking God.
Then the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send a plague among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
What we see here in 2 Chronicles 7, is God talking to Solomon about the temple and what His people should do when He sends plagues upon the people due to their sin.
and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
God shares with Solomon four things the people must do in order for Him to hear their prayer, forgive their sins, and heal their land.
Four things that God demands from His people.
Humility
Prayer
Seek His Face
Turn from Sin
The first thing we must do in order to be made right with God, is come into His presence with humility.
What we see is that humility prepares the heart
It also helps us recognize our need for Him.
James 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.”
The second thing we must do is Pray.
We are to go to God not with formal prayer, but earnest communication with God.
Prayer helps to shift our dependence from ourselves to God.
We are to go to God with a prayer of repentance over our sin.
Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
The third thing we are do is seek God with persistence.
Revival often comes when believers passionately pursue God together
To seek after God in a deeper and intimate relationship.
Jeremiah 29:13 “And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart”
The final thing we are to do is turn from our wicked ways.
We can’t continue in our wicked ways and expect God to bless us.
Revival requires moral change, not just emotional response.
God always calls us out of sin.
When God’s people respond Correctly! God Promises to forgive and heal.
Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Lord of armies says: “Return to Me,” declares the Lord of armies, “that I may return to you,” says the Lord of armies.
