On the Daily: Living It Out Loud

All of it comes back to one question:

“Does your faith actually show up in your everyday life?”

Romans 12:1–2 says:

Be transformed

Don’t conform

Key Line:

“Faith was never meant to stay private—it was meant to shape how you live daily.”

A)Transformation is Internal Before It’s External

Text: Romans 12:1–2

Romans 12:1–2 ESV

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Teaching:

Paul starts with surrender:

“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice”

Then transformation:

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind”

We often try to:

Change behavior first

Then hope it sticks

But biblical order is:

Heart → Mind → Life

45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

23 Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Key Teaching Lines:

You don’t act your way into transformation, you’re transformed, then you act.

If your faith isn’t changing you internally, it won’t show externally.

B) Real Faith is Visible in Everyday Life

Text: James 2:17

James 2:17 ESV

17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Teaching:

Faith is not:

Just a belief

Just a feeling

Just something you say

Faith is something you live

Students often think:

“My faith is personal”

Translation: “No one sees it”

But Scripture says:

If it’s real—it shows

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Galatians 5:22–23 ESV

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Love proves discipleship

Key Teaching Lines:

Invisible faith is often inactive faith.

If your faith doesn’t show up in your life,

it might not be shaping your life.

You don’t hide a changed life.

Matthew 5:14–16 ESV

If Jesus has changed you, it will show

you’d have to try to hide it.

So faith isn’t private…

but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to live out

C) Living Out Loud Will Cost You…. But It’s Worth It

Text: Luke 9:23

Luke 9:23 ESV

23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Teaching:

Jesus never said it would be easy:

“Deny yourself”

“Take up your cross daily”

Living out loud means:

Standing out

Saying no when others say yes

Living different when it’s unpopular

22 and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

You will be hated

1 Peter 3:15 ESV

15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

Be ready to give an answer

Galatians 1:10 ESV

10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Not seeking approval of man

Key Teaching Lines:

If your faith never costs you anything, it’s probably not leading you anywhere.

You can’t follow Jesus and blend in forever.

Daily faith requires daily surrender.

Spend time with God even when you don’t feel like it

If someone followed you for a week… would they know you follow Jesus?
