1 Peter 3:8-12

Psalm 34:11–16 ESV
11 Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
Many of will justify sin in our life by saying all that stuff is in the OT!
This does not apply to us!!
Proverbs 15:3 ESV
3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
1 Peter 3:8–12 ESV
8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 9 Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. 10 For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; 11 let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
Hummm how do re rectify ????
First let us look no further than our own heart!
Do we desire to pursue unity ?
To have sympathy ?
Brotherly Love ?
What about a Tender Heart??
How many desire a humble mind set!?
WHO is there that long for or desire or pursue??????????????
How many of us get caught up in repaying tit for tat??
Reviling to insult! or to Mock!
The word Pursue is a hunting term meaning to “to pursue with intensity, determination and persistence.”
I & II Peter, I, II & III John, Jude B. Relationships in the Church (vv. 8–12)

These verses present an ideal picture of the life of a church. The target audience (all of you) has expanded beyond husbands and wives to include everyone in the church. Harmonious living is displayed in the life of the church.

I & II Peter, I, II & III John, Jude B. Relationships in the Church (vv. 8–12)

Live in harmony translates a single word in the original text and means “to be like-minded.” It describes an inner unity of attitude that makes division and mutiny within the body of Christ unthinkable.

Romans 12:16–21 ESV
16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
I & II Peter, I, II & III John, Jude B. Relationships in the Church (vv. 8–12)

This does not mean the church will never have any differences of opinion. The variety of gifts and talents God has given his people mean differences of opinion are bound to occur. The key is not the differences; the issue is how those differences are handled.

I & II Peter, I, II & III John, Jude B. Relationships in the Church (vv. 8–12)

Believers should live and minister together so that the differences do not divide the church but serve to enrich its life and work. To live in harmony means Christians should pursue the same primary purpose of serving God and extending love to one another, instead of being fueled by individual and selfish interests

1 Thessalonians 4:1–8 ESV
1 Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. 8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
