Normal Christianity works like a soldier, trains like an athlete, waits like a farmer. In 2 Timothy 2:1–7, Paul tells Timothy to be strengthened by grace, entrust truth to faithful others, and “share in suffering” with soldier’s focus (no civilian entanglements), athlete’s discipline (competing by the rules), and farmer’s patient labor (first share of the crops). This message challenges spiritual spectatorship, asking: is your faith private belief or public truth worth everything?
