Acts 1:1–14
Big Idea: Before Pentecost power comes Pentecost prayer—waiting, seeking, and unity.
Pentecostal Emphasis:
The pattern of *tarrying* (earnest, persistent seeking)
Unity and prayer create an atmosphere for outpouring
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is subsequent to salvation and is to be sought
Key Movements:
The command to wait is intentional, not passive
The disciples were already believers—but still needed empowerment
Breakthrough often follows persistent prayer
Application:
Call the church to intentional prayer gatherings
Encourage believers to seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit
Ministry Moment Idea:
Extended prayer time—laying on of hands for those seeking Spirit baptism.
