Exodus 6:6–7 NIV
6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
My deliverer is coming, my deliverer is standing by.
Exodus 6:6 NLT
6 I will…. rescue you from your slavery.
Being Sanctified, Born again, set apart is the first step.
Deliverance is for anyone still struggling with their sinful nature. It’s for people whose past keeps limiting their future. In other words, it’s for everyone. Deliverance is different from salvation. Salvation takes care of our eternity; deliverance determines our quality of life while still on earth. Salvation, the first cup, is instant. Deliverance, the second cup, is a process.
When we get saved, God completely cleanses us spiritually. Our spirit is then empowered by the Holy Spirit to begin the process of regeneration, a transformation of our spirit, which then affects and changes the other two parts of our being. Despite being saved, however, we often cling to our old, familiar ways, instead of experiencing the deliverance and spiritual transformation that God wants to complete in our lives.
We can become institutionalized.
The grip of sin was instantly broken when I was born-again but my deliverance has been a journey.
Gutted at men’s camp
Gutted at Cleansing stream
Sin means, missing the mark
Three areas God delivers

Sin

Sin is exposed through our attitudes, habits, and addictions.
Attitude- racist, religious bigot, intolerant, unreasonable, prejudice, hostile, etc
Addiction-an addiction is anything we do that we don’t want to do but we can’t stop doing. It is any ingrained pattern that pulls us to false idols to escape our pain.
Habits- doomscrolling, TV, overeating,
What are the things controlling you? What fills you up?
John 10:10 NLT
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
1 Corinthians 6:12 NLT
12 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.

Wounds

Negative events that have happened to us—usually, what others have done to us, things over which we had little or no control.
Childhood abuse, verbal, physical, abandonment, etc..
betrayal by a spouse, or someone close, rejection and all other things that leave us beaten and bruised. We close off from everyone and we miss out on living God’s best life for us.
Maybe your the one that caused the wounds because you were wounded. What’s the saying? Hurt people hurt people.
Instead of forgiving we harbor and hold onto the pain, hide it deep in our heart, hold grudges, make inner vows, “I’ll never, etc..”
Ephesians 4:26–27 NLT
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

Curses

The plan of attack the enemy has for us.
1 Peter 5:8 NLT
8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
The enemy has a plan and purpose.
How do we get delivered?

We have to confront ; our past, ourselves, our enemy

Abide

John 8:31–32 NLT
31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Confession

1 John 1:9 NIV
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
James 5:16 NIV
16 “confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
Confessing to God takes care of the past—it takes care of what happened. But confessing to another person helps it not to happen again.
You render the enemy powerless with your confession.
When we confess our faults, hurts, hang-ups, and missteps to another person, a spiritual dynamic takes place. Our confession to another person notifies the kingdom of darkness that we are ready for a change. When we verbalize our faults and invoke the name of the Lord over our situations, it overcomes the enemy of our soul.
Revelation 12:11 NLT
11 And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.
Joshua 5:9 NLT
9 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.”
