PETER WALKING ON WATER

Matthew 14:22–33 “Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when P

eter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.””

He saw the wind was boisterous TPT- When he realized how high the waves were

EVIDENCE OF THE ENEMY

Feel how strong the wind is

Look how high the waves are

Doesn’t nature say you can’t walk on water?

Remember the boat that got flipped over last week and the people who drowned?

You’re not a very strong swimmer Peter are you?

Who are you to say you can walk on water? Do you think you are God?

Who are you to think God is going hold you up? It was prideful of you to even ask to do this.

Peter can’t you see how far you are getting from the boat? What if you sink? If a wave overtakes you?

SERPENT IN THE GARDEN

Genesis 3:1–5 “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.””

Everything not done out of faith is sin

Serpent- did God indeed say? Sin was birthed from unbelief.

The devil sowed seeds of doubt.

Did God really say? But LOOK, look at my fruit. Look at my evidence- you will be like God knowing good and evil.

Unblief resulted in a loss of identity. They were made in the image of God they didn’t need to be like God.

They didn’t need anything- they lacked nothing

Genesis 3:7 “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.”

When man sinned his spiritual eyes were closed and his natural eyes opened.

Look at this natural circumstance-

The enemy build up false evidence and we being to intellectise it, rationalize it, and we inwardly begin to accuse God’s word/promise BUT WHAT ABOUT?

PETER & JOHN

John 21:15–23 “So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.” Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?””

Jesus what about that one? He is ALWAYS talking about how much you love him

You even gave him revleation about the one who would betray you

He was there at the cross when I wasn’t

You even gave your mother to him!

He even beat me to the tomb! He RUNS faster then me!

WHAT IS THAT TO YOU? FOLLOW ME. STOP COMPARING. STOP BEING DISRTACTED.

Who would win 3000 after this? Peter. He had his own assignment.

STAND UPON THIS

John 1:42 “And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, A Stone).”

Matthew 16:18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

John 21:18–19 “Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.””

Peter you wanted to die for me, I am telling you that you will. YOUR GOING TO MAKE IT PETER!

JUST FOLLOW ME AND RUN YOUR OWN RACE.

He had a prophetic word

Luke 8:22–25 “Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.” And they launched out. But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!””

Their focus was on the wind, the waves, and the boat, but not the one laying in the boat.

THEY HAD A WORD. THEY HAD A PROMISE. THEY HAD A PROPHECY

YOU TAKE YOUR BIBLE AND SAY YOU HAVE THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF EVIDENCE
