CONSIDER YOUR WAYS

INTRODUCTION:
HAGGAI WAS THE LORD’S PROPHET DURING THE REIGN OF KING DARIUS AND HIS MESSAGE TO ZERUBBABEL THE GOVERNOR OF JUDAH AND JOSHUA THE HIGH PRIEST IT IS HIGH TIME THAT THE PEOPLE BEGIN TO REBUILD THE TEMPLE. BUT INSTEAD THE PEOPLE ATTENTION WENT TOWARDS THEIR OWN CONCERNS.
THE EXILES WHICH ARE THE JEWISH PEOPLE HAD BEGIN THE WORK, BUT WHEN THEY HAD FACED OPPOSITION, THE KING HAD TO HALT THE WORK.
WHY IS IT WHEN YOU’RE DOING SOMETHING FOR THE LORD, THE ENEMY RAISES HIS HEAD.
TODAY I WANT TO TALK ABOUT
PROCRASTINATION
PRIORITIES
PUNISHMENT
A. PROCRASTINATION
Haggai 1:1–2 “In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech the high priest, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.”
THE WORD PROCRASTINATION IS THE INTENTIONAL OFTEN HABITUAL, ACT OF DELAYING OR POSTPONING TASKS THAT NEED TO BE DONE, DESPITE KNOWING THERE WILL BE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES.
HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU BEGUN SOMETHING AND NEVER GOT BACK TO FINISH IT. THE JEWS HAD STARTED THE REBUILD OF THE TEMPLE, BUT BECAUSE OF DISTRACTIONS AND THE WILLINGNESS OF THEM TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN HOMES INSTEAD OF THE LORD’S HOUSE, THE LORD WAS NOT PLEASED WITH IT.
THE LORD IS NOT PLEASE WITH US WHEN WE PUT SOMETHNG BEFORE HIM. THE LORD SHOULD BE FIRST IN EVERYTHING CONCERNING OUR LIVES.
WHAT’S IN YOUR LIFE TODAY THAT THE LORD HAS TO TAKE A BACK SEAT TO? WHAT BALL HAVE YOU DROP CONCERNING THE THINGS OF THE LORD.
PROCRASTINATION S IS THE SPIRIT OF LAZINESS. WHEN WILL YOU GET UP AND DO SOMETHING FOR THE LORD AND NO ONE HAVE TO TELL YOU. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO YOURSELF, YOU HAVE PLENTY OF ENERGY GET YOUR WORK DONE. BUT YOU ALWAYS TIRED CONCERNING THE THINGS OF THE LORD.
Numbers 13:30–31 “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”
B. PRIORITIES
Haggai 1:5 “Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.”
THE LORD IS SAYING STOP, REFLECT ON AND TAKE AND HONEST ASSESSMENT OF YOUR LIVES CONCERNING YOUR PRIORITIES AND ACTIONS.
GOD’S PEOPLE THOUGHT THAT THERE HOUSES WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD. WHEN YOU TAKE CARE OF HE LORD’S HOUSE FIRST, HE WILL DEFINITELY LOOK OUT FOR YOURS.
THE QUESTION IS WHAT HAVE YOU ALLOWED INTO YOUR LIFE THAT HAVE THE LORD SECOND PLACE IN YOUR LIFE.
IS IT THE MONEY YOU MAKE, IS IT THE HOUSE YOU LIVE IN, IS THE PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE. THE LORD IS NOT PLEASED WITH YOU SHARING HIM WITH THESE THINGS IF THEY DISTRACT YOU FROM HIM. THE LORD WANTS TOTAL OBEDIENCE OUT OF YOU CONCERNING THE THINGS THAT HE WILL HAVE YOU TO DO.
WE HAVE TO LEARN WHAT’S IMPORTANT AND WHAT’S NOT IMPORTANT, I KNOW THIS THAT WHATEVER WE DO FOR THE LORD IT WILL HAVE A ETERNAL EFFECT ON OUR LIVES.
WHEN YOUR PRIORITIES ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE, YOUR HEART IS IN THE RIGHT PLACE ALSO. BUT IF NOT, EVERYTHING YOU WILL TRY TO ACCOMPLISH FOR SELF, YOU WILL NEVER SEE THE FRUIT OF IT.
Lamentations 3:40 “Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.”
C. PUNISHMENT
Haggai 1:9–10 “Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to little; And when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, And ye run every man unto his own house. Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, And the earth is stayed from her fruit.”
WHEN YOU NEGLECT TO TAKE CARE OF THE THINGS OF THE LORD, DON’T YOU EXPECT THE LORD TO REWARD YOU.
THE LORD’S PEOPLE PUNISHMENT WAS THEY HAD TO GO WITHOUT, SO THAT THEY COULD RECOGNIZE THAT THE THINGS OF THE LORD IS IMPORTANT.
WHAT IS IT OF THE LORD’S THAT YOU HAVE PUT ON THE SHELF AND HAVE NOT PICK IT UP IN AWHILE, COULD IT BE THE WORD OF GOD.
YOU NEED TO CONSIDER YOU WAYS, BECAUSE YOUR HEART IS NOT IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
Haggai 2:17 “I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail In all the labours of your hands; Yet ye turned not to me, saith the Lord.”
