For others, it could be in a coffee shop on a Sunday night with worship music and a speaker. But what if we told you that church wasn’t a meeting place or an environment? The church is a place where you feel like you belong. Where you find a community of people who will support and accept you throughout your life. A place so compelling that there is no choice but to experience the love of God and share it with others.

Introduction: (Me)
Illustration - This is the church, this is the steeple open it up and see all the people. (kid saying)
I want to be a part of a COMPELLING church. What if I told you that church wasn’t brick and mortar but is bodies and members. I want to be a part of a movement of people were I fill supported and accepted throughout the ups and downs of life. I want to be a part of a people so compelling that there is no choice but to experience the love of God and share it with others.
I got a note the other day… I was thinking about leaving BCC. Now I wish I would have because I can’t be complacent anymore. I’m ready to move into a more dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.
(We) BCC you have made a difference, you are making a difference and we are going to continue making a difference. BCC can be described in many ways and I want one of those to be COMPELLING. Celebrate EASTER!!!
COMPELLING = evoking interest, attention, or admiration in a powerfully irresistible way.
Imagine with me if you grew up in a church that was COMPELLING. We all have a different framework of church experience that have formed our thoughts about church. Think about it. What if you went to a church that was so interesting, so attention grabbing that it was irresistible. You couldn’t stay away!
If you grew up as a prek or kid - (add growth markers)
If you grew up as a student - (add values)
If you were involved in a church that had a groups - (Align Truth, Belong, Care)
How can we be intentionally COMPELLING? How can we continue to move people into a more dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. A people that you can confidently invest and invite your friends. Those people who are not in the room. Let’s talk about being COMPELLING!
Transition:
(God) Let’s like at the founder of BCC. Jesus Christ! ( - Jesus went to Matthew’s, tax collector, house - onlookers criticized Jesus for going to Matthew’s house.
31 Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. 32 I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”
Luke 5:
Jesus came to those that are hurting, unhealthy, discouraged and broken.
Jesus came for two reasons -
Build A Bridge
Turn On A Light
Ex - Bridge. He built it with Matthew. Light. I’m just like God. Look at me.
Matthew became a Christ follower.
The Pharisees built WALLS and keeping people in the DARK. Jesus came to...
App - Our goal in life should be to build a bridge with people and invest with them. Turn a light on for them and help them understand that God is not mad at them. Help them understand that God loves them and is for them.
22 When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 23 I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.
Paul was a bridge builder and a light shiner...
App - There is not a greater thrill in all the world than to build a bridge and turn on a light for a family member, co-worker, family friend. Watch them come to Jesus and experience forgiveness and experience eternal life.
Illustration: I’ve hit a winning shot. Not a greater thrill in all the world than to build a bridge and turn on a light for someone far from God. That is what Jesus did and Paul did and that is what we need to do to be compelling.
We need to build bridges not walls - strong enough to bear the weight of truth. We need to bring brightness not darkness.
How Do We Make Sure That BCC Is COMPELLING?
