Love one Another

Last week we laid the foundation work that we are of Another and that we belong to one another, all bought and paid for by Christ who loves us all equally and that we are all equal to HIM, sheep of his flock, the bride that He is coming back for.

Going back to our text in John 13:31-35 As you turn there in your bible, let us pray for Gods blessing on the reading and studying of his word, and that His presence would be here with us today.

Christian Standard Bible Chapter 13

31 When he had left, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once. 33 Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so now I tell you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’

34 “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Big Idea- Loving one another paves the way for living “On Mission”.

In just 30 years, the gospel message spread all over Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the Roman empire, to what do we owe this swift advancement? You can say the Holy spirit, but it is also the body of believers filled with the Holy Spirit going, serving, preaching, contributing and showing hospitality, showing mercy and speaking truth. Jesus shows and tells us that our corporate life is an apologetic and a witness to outsiders. They should want in, do they want in? Why are they not seeing this kind of display? In those moments during the last supper and all of the previous 3 years of ministry, Jesus was glorifying the Father and ultimately  the cross shown bright just how deep this Love for us is. The death penalty for sin paid, the veil tore from top to bottom signaling the open communication  ability  between us and the Father plus moving His dwelling place from the inner most seat into the hearts of HIs followers.( follower is an action term). 

 Having God who loves us on the inside of us is that thing that enables us to have to capicity to Love one another. Now i know that when we talk about Love some or most guys often start to tune out or get queeshy, Love often caries a romantic tone or idea , yet Jesus gave this commandment to 11 guys reclining a dinner, so loveing one another isnt just for the ladies, one of our favorite places to look at love is, 1 Cor. 13:1-7

Christian Standard Bible Chapter 13

13 If I speak human or angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give away all my possessions, and if I give over my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant, 5 is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. 6 Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never ends

This was not written for a wedding, but to a divided church, unity in a body is demonstrated by the outward expressions of love for one another.

Yes Jesus loves us, but because we dont see Him sometimes, we may loose sight of that in the form of doubts, questions and crises. This is one of the reasons why we need each other is to remind one another, Jesus Loves You! Turn to your neighbor and say it, Jesus Loves You!

Love is defined by Jesus, He said “Just as I have Loved You”.

How He Loves Us, With full Knowledge of our faults, With His presence,

With Trust and empowerment, By giving us Grace, Telling us the truth, and warning and teaching us

His Love is always rooted in action

Loving like Jesus is a clear indication that we are following Jesus.

Remember our John passage, Jesus is talking to his first church group, a smaller group than this, and i feel like he is saying , Before you go look for outsiders, remember outsider are looking inside, and if we cannot love the people that are like us, how are we going to love someone who is not like us?

Living on Mission begins with an inward focus, we believe Jesus Loves His Bride(The church) yes? Listen to this in the Ephesians 5 passage

Christian Standard Bible (Chapter 5) 28 In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hates his own flesh but provides and cares for it, just as Christ does for the church, 30 since we are members of his body. 31 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh., 32 This mystery is profound, but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 To sum up, each one of you is to love his wife as himself, and the wife is to respect her husband.

What way are we talking about?

Christian Standard Bible Chapter 5

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. 27 He did this to present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless

As Mrs.Sharon comes to play, if the Lord has touched a memory in your mind of a time or way that you havent Loved like Jesus, maybe He impressed on you a person that needs to be loved unconditionaly or forgiven. Maybe you yourself have never experinced this kind of love, now is the time to set things straight. Take this time now as we pray to ask the LORD for his guiding hand in Loving One Another, maybe come and pour it out on the alter, kneel before a Holy God and let Him work His good Work in your life.
