PASSION TO OBEDIENCE

James the writer of this book is Jesus half brother
James is saying “brothers and sisters” referring to BELIEVERS
Are we receptive when the Word of God is opened or being taught, we are so receptive during worship and song because of the feeling
Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
God still speaks and we need to have the patience to hear Him, before we move!
Quick to hear is a call against pride
slow to speak is about submission to truth before expression of opinion
anger is usually tied to resistant of truth
If you get angry easily, you are not positioned to receive God’s Words
the Word of God is going to confront you, receiving it in humility is important
God is not withholding His voice we are withholding our submission.
HOW DO WE COME TO SUBMISSION BEFORE GOD AND HIS WORD? BY BEING QUICK TO LISTEN, SLOW TO SPEAK, SLOW TO GET ANGRY
We want to be a NOW Generation that makes an IMPACT than we have got to have this posture towards the Word of God, because for you to think that your words have the power to set people free, heal people, all the things is PRIDE
The NOW generation will be a generation that has reverance and awe for the word of God
what we feed produces either good fruit or bad fruit
what the enemy wants for you to do is justify the bad in your life, so that you can continue to hold this anger. so that you won’t get rid of the filth and the evil in your life
there is a difference between godly anger and human anger
HUMAN ANGER IS REACTIVE, SELF PROTECTIVE, EGO DRIVEN, ROOTED IN PRIDE
Human anger comes from a heart that is still ruled by the flesh
submit your anger to the Lord
When you’re angry:
you stop listening you defend yourself you reject correction
And if you can’t receive the Word, you can’t be shaped by it
anger blocks transformation
you are not looking like God, by acting out of the flesh
THE WORD HAS THE POWER TO SAVE SOULS
Don’t just listen to the reading of God’s Word, hear what’s being said.
don’t just listen to the Word and read it on a page, thinking that you are becoming more like Christ. You are becoming more like Christ when you begin to obey what you hear!
You are fooling yourself, if you show up to Youth hear the Word being preached but you don’t apply it.
what does the Word say to do ? the Word says to love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength! & to love your neighbor as yourself & to go into all the nations baptizing them in the name of the father the son and the spirit
The Word isn’t unclear, your calling isn’t unknown it’s either taking us out of our comfort aa
