Introduction
Introduction
Winter will be coming to an end soon and spring is around the corner
This means it’s almost garden season.
Love gardening, the smell of the dirt, the fried squash.
Start planning out what to put in the garden and preparing to purchase seeds.
Before you put seed into the ground, you have to inspect the seed to make sure you know what you are planting!
Before we spread the gospel seed, we need to inspect it to make sure we are planting the pure, biblical gospel seed.
Characteristics of Seed
Characteristics of Seed
11 And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants[e] yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.
Seed is preservable
As evidenced by Physical seed
Farmers keep seed back from their harvest and store it for the next planting season.
There was a story in national geographic about a date seed that had been discovered among artifacts at Masada and they determined that the seed dated to around 2,000 years ago.
Israeli scientists soaked the seed in hot water, planted them and irrigated and the seed sprouted.
As evidenced by Spiritual seed
Old Testament example is King Josiah -
Josiah unaware of the laws of God, both is Grandfather (Manasseh) and his father (Amon) were evil kings that brought idols into the land.
The book of the law found in the Temple.
It had been sitting there perfectly preserved and when it was planted in a good and honest heart seeking God it sprouted and grew.
The Gospel seed is still being sown and growing in the hearts of men 2000 years later!
Unlike physical seed, there is no doubt about the shelf life of the Gospel seed
we are told that Christians have been born again not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.
Jesus also said that “Heaven and Earth will pass away but my words will never pass away”
Seed is transportable
As evidenced by physical seed
Seed can be collected in one place and sown in another
The pilgrims uon their arrival in America planted seeds that they had brought with them from 4000 miles away.
Seed transported “by way of mouth” through animals carrying off and storing seeds.
As Evidenced by spiritual seed
Christ commaned his disciples to preach the gospel to all nations -
Paul’s journeys took him all around the region and everywhere he went he sowed the Gospel Seed.
If you take the gospel seed and plant it anywhere, you will get Christians.
God has entrusted man with the great commandment to spread the Gospel seed through preaching and teaching.
Seed is predictable -
As evidenced by Physical seed
It has been a law of nature set forth by God himself that seed always produces after its own kind since the third day of creation.
Corn seed will NOT produce watermelon
Tomato seed will NOT produce Squash
As evidenced by spiritual seed
In the same way, the gospel seed will only produce after its kind.
When the true uncontaminated gospel seed is obeyed by men it produces nothing more than Christians that are added to the same church that we read about in our Bibles.
Not denominations, Not imitations, but the authentic real thing!
It has been a law of nature that Seed produces after its own kind since the 3rd day of creation Corn seed will not produce watermelon. Tomato seed will not produce Spiritual In the same way, the gospel seed will only produce after its kind. When the true un contaminated Gospel seed is obeyed by men it produces nothing more than Christians that are added to the same church that we read about in our Bibles. Application - Seed Inspectors Why is it important for us to know these characteristics of seed? Because Satan, the father of lies has been effective making the world believe a lie about the authority of the word of God. Satan says "The Bible is outdated, the church needs to change, Christians need to change. That the Gospel seed is preservable and that it stands the test of time. When Satan says "The Bible was only intended for a certain area, it doesn't apply to you" That the Gospel seed is Transportable and that it is to be taken into the whole world! When Satan says "What name you wear doesn't matter! How you worship doesn't matter, There is no way to know what is right!" That the Gospel seed is Predictable and that it only produces NT Christians, the worship of which and name of which we can read about in the Word of God! God has given us a great privilege and a great responsibility to be Sowers of the gospel seed. Any good farmer or gardener needs to know everything that they can about the seed that they are sowing. Let's be seed inspectors, let's put the work and effort into studying out the truth for ourselves and making sure that the seeds we are sowing are only that of the Pure Gospel seed. Conclusion
Inspecting the Seed
Inspecting the Seed
Why is it important that we understand these characteristics of seed?
Because Satan, the father of lies, has been effective at making the world believe a lie about the authority of the Word of God.
Satan says “The Bible is outdated, the church needs to change, Christians need to change.”
In response we should readily reply, “The Gospel seed is perfectly preserved within God’s Word and it will stand the test of time!”
Satan says “The Bible was only intended for a certain area, it doesn’t apply to you!”
We can declare that “The Gospel seed is transportable and that it is to be taken to the whole world!”
Satan says “What name you wear doesn’t matter! How you worship doesn’t matter! There is no way to know what is right!”
We can stand on the truth that the gospel seed is predictable and that it only produces NT Christians, the worhsip of which and name of which we can read about in the Word of God!
Inspecting the seed, the Word of God, is a necessity for rebuking Satan and his lies.
Any good farmer or garder
Conclusion
Conclusion
God has entrusted us with a great responsibility to be sowers of the gospel seed.
Any good farmer knows everything they can about the seed they are sowing. Their livelyhood depends on getting the right seed, the right conditions, in the right places at the right time.
Our eternal souls rest in the balance! It is critical that we be seed inspectors! Bible students that understand why we believe what we believe, and what to say to others searching for the truth.
