INTRODUCTION

Last week we considered the familiar narrative of – the Crucifixion – the Death – the Burial and the Resurrection of Jesus as told by Paul the Apostle so as to see it for what it meant for Jesus and what it means for us!
We noted His HUMILITY, His OBEDIENCE, His SACRIFICE and His GLORY. Paul urged us to have “that same mind.”
In other words, as we realize our need for Jesus, declare our commitment to Him, let go of our plans for our life to embrace his plan for our life, we receive his glorious salvation from the penalty of sin, his ongoing salvation from the power of sin in our life and one day we will see the full glory of his salvation as we stand with Him removed from the very presence of sin.
Today, we’re going to travel back into history (actually, we will go back further than that into eternity past) to see the beginning of God’s great salvation so we can marvel at His love for us, His provision for us and His plan for us.
ESV

Where It Began

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27  So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

27

4  These are the generations

of the heavens and the earth when they were created,

in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.

He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

15  I will put enmity between you and the woman,

and between your offspring and her offspring;

he shall bruise your head,

and you shall bruise his heel.”

12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— 13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. 14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.

15 But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. 16 And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. 17 For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. 20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Some Things to Consider

Jesus doesn’t want us to try harder to do better. He wants us to surrender all our striving to Him and receive His gift of salvation…TOTALLY something He did for us!
Jesus didn’t die for our moral reformation, but that He might send the Holy Spirit upon us for our Spiritual Transformation!

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

In the sovereignty and omniscience of God, many things were determined and accomplished before or from the foundation of the world:
God existed before the foundation (Gen. ; Ps. ; Isa. ).Christ existed before the foundation (Isa. ; Mic. ; John ; , ).Christ was loved by the Father before the foundation (John ).Wisdom was established before the foundation (Pr. ).Believers were predestined for salvation before the foundation (Eph. ; 2Ti. ).God promised eternal life before time began (Tit. ).Christ was foreordained before the foundation (1Pe. ; Rev. +).Unrevealed secrets of God existed from the foundation (Mtt. ).The kingdom was prepared for the faithful from the foundation (Mtt. ).The blood of all the prophets was shed from the foundation (Luke ).The Beast worshipers were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation (Rev. +).

PRAYER

God is not mad at you! He isn't counting your sins and holding them against you. He wants, so much, to have a personal relationship with you that He sent Jesus, His only Son, to shed His blood, die on the cross, and then be raised from the dead. He did all that so that you can be set free from the bondage of sin and the fear of death, and enter into eternal life.

Say this prayer out loud right now:
"Dear God, I want to be a part of your family. You said in Your Word that if I acknowledge that You raised Jesus from the dead, and that I accept Him as my Lord and Savior, I would be saved. So God, I now say that I believe You raised Jesus from the dead and that He is alive and well. I accept Him now as my personal Lord and Savior. I accept my salvation from sin right now.
I am now saved. Jesus is my Lord. Jesus is my Savior. Thank you, Father God, for forgiving me, saving me, and giving me eternal life with You. Amen!"

If you just prayed this prayer and meant it with all your heart and soul, I welcome you to the family of God! We would love to pray for you and provide you with resources to help you in your walk with God.

Accepting Jesus Christ is very simple:

"Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
"Whosoever" that means you!
Say with our mouths
Verse 9 and 10 tell us that if we say with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we "shall be saved".
It's that easy
Verse 9 and 10 tell us how easy it is to receive salvation (eternal life with God).
Amen!"
