Week 7 – Behind the Scenes During Worship Sermon

Looking for a bit of a summary of what we’ve already covered such as passage(s) selection, music selection, who will be speaking at the various points, is there communion. Seeing if they also name the behind the scene jobs such as nursery, tech team, who prepares communion, or handles the offering money

The church has many roles that need filled

We need people with different gifts to best serve the Church and its calling

We are all needed to care for each other. Some parts need special care.

Unity by diversity of roles

It can be easy to be jealous of another role so it’s important to remain focused on Christ.

Nursery

What does it look like preparing the nursery? Hopefully Emily or Holly have some good answers here

What does a typical day in nursery look like?

Why is it important to offer nursery for families?

What does the rotation look like for who serves in nursery?

Tech team

What are the responsibilities of the person running tech for the service?

Transitioning slides for music, adjusting volume, ensuring the live stream is running, etc.

If the tech team does their job really well it is easy for no one to notice them. If they make a mistake such as late to go to the next slide or if the volume creates a feedback loop then the most common thing is for everyone to turn around and stare 

What is the purpose of using technology during our service? Why not just go tech-less?

Offering

Who does offering collection each week?

What is their responsibility as part of collecting it?

What happens to the offering after service?

We count it in the office, always in pairs. The treasurer then makes sure the deposit receipt is mailed to the second counter thereby giving us accountability for what was supposed to be deposited.

Hospitality

Who here eats the goodie at the beginning of church?

Who makes the food? Who makes the coffee?

How does a fellowship meal get put together?

Why do we take effort to do these things?
