Untitled Sermon (2)

I would try to keep a low profile, but eventually my passion for plants spilled over onto my social media and obviously my friend circle and know as an adult I even share this with you. And you’ll have your own thing! We are all known for something because

When something truly fills you, it eventually spills out of you.

You can’t keep your passion for plants, Taylor Swift, or the Anaheim Ducks a secret, you gotta let it out! And in Acts 2, we are seeing that happen with the disciples.

Where we pick up with the disciples is after a big defining moment for them. They had just spent their final moments with Jesus before he ascended back to heaven. Jesus had comissioned them to go out and make disciples, witnessing to the whole world and promised them the coming of the Holy Spirit who would be with them always.

With Jesus having ascended, there was nothing left for them to do but wait… and pray. And so they did! It became their whole life- expectantly waiting on the promise of the Holy Spirit. And it is here we read…

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues  as the Spirit enabled them.
