In the first part of chapter 1, we see that we have been chosen by God, selected for salvation for the purpose of obedience to Jesus Christ. This new birth is into hope through Jesus and into an eternal inheritance that is already stored for us in Heaven, imperishable and eternal. We are reminded that we are protected for all time by God! Peter commends those who have faith in Jesus even though they (we!) have not personally seen the Christ.
