Since we are in the Spirit, we are not obligated to live according to our fleshly desires. 12 2. Since we are in the Spirit, The Holy Spirit enables the believer to fight our sinful passions. 13 3. Since we are in the Spirit, our position places us in relationships with God with all its privileges! 14-17 Privileges of Relationship A. Privilege of being part of God’s family. 14 B. Privilege of not fearing eternity. 14 C. Privilege of relationship with God gaining His grace and help. 15 D. Privilege of Holy Spirit confirmation of our standing before God. 16 E. Privilege of gaining God’s inheritance of suffering that ends in glorification. 17 The Privilege of Life in the Spirit 1. The Christian life is about relationship. Enjoy the privileges and responsibilities of being in the Spirit. 2. Don’t have the mindset that there is no hope to have victory over sinful desires and actions. Application 3. Righteousness through self-effort will always fail – It is through the enablement of the Holy Spirit as we yield to God’s desires that we progress in our righteousness. 3. When you fear eternity, remind yourself that it is the Holy Spirit that keeps you and not your own effort! LIFE IN THE SPIRIT GIVES US THE FREEDOM TO LIVE FOR GOD AND ENJOY THE PRIVILEGES OF BEING HIS CHILD.
